Many of my clients want a more advanced project portfolio. For example, projects (lists) allow you to configure assignee, priority, start date, and due date. The project portfolio in list view is fine, but project managers are asking to be able to see project timelines to understand when projects overlap in time. They also want to view project timelines grouped by person or by another criterion, such as project type. It might be a good idea if you could consider enhancing the project portfolio by allowing users to visualize it not only as it is currently displayed, but also as a timeline. It would be extremely useful for project managers to see project timelines, identify when multiple projects coincide, and of course, be able to shift project dates by dragging them directly on the timeline (with project tasks automatically rescheduling if the project itself is rescheduled). They would also like to view the projects on the timeline grouped by project manager, so they can easily see when a project manager has too many projects or not enough. Additionally, if project tags could be added, it would be fantastic to categorize projects by type, for example... Type A projects, Type B projects, Type C projects, etc. Just this week I had a meeting with a client (a university in Spain) and project managers from different departments agreed that this would be a very useful feature. I’m attaching a screenshot of what we would like to achieve with the native project portfolio. For now, this is a simulation using tasks as projects, but what is required is this visualization using lists instead.
