🔧 Job's done!
We’re excited to announce two new ways to automate your workflows using task names!
1️⃣ New Trigger:
Now, you can fire automations whenever a task name is updated. This makes it easy to kick off actions any time a task or subtask title changes - no manual monitoring needed.
2️⃣ Advanced Condition:
Take your automations further with new task name conditions! You can now filter tasks using options like “contains,” “does not contain,” and most powerfully - “regular expression (RegEx)”. This means you can precisely target which tasks trigger your automations, giving you more flexibility and control than ever before.
We hope these updates help you streamline your processes and keep your projects organized with less effort!

Ignacio Nieto Carvajal better? 😄

Zach Possible to add a due date to task B when task A status changes and task name contains "XYZ"?
Example:
- Task A name "Packaging" is blocking Task B name "Sell Sheet".
- When Task A "Packaging" us marked complete add Due Date to "Sell Sheet"
Ignacio Nieto Carvajal
Zach MUCH better, thanks a ton :)

Zach Can you please add Task Name as a condition to all Triggers?
I see it for Task Name Updated, I see it for Custom Field Changes, but I don't see it for Status changes, I don't see it for Task Created, etc etc.
E.g., "When Task created and Task Name Contains...".
Zach
Guy Mannerings: Can you please refresh and check again. It should be there for everything.

Hi Zach,
This or other task name automation created a bug that is leading to incorrect name creation by dates in my current automation.
More Context:
I have an automation that creates and names a task in this format: "Standup: Date"
Custom Field: Next Day
Standup: [[Next Day]] with next day's start date and due date.
But now I am getting results:
Standup: [[Next Day - 1]] with next day's start date and due date.
Just some issue with name where as date to date fields are copied well.
Guy Mannerings
Zach Got it now for the others! Thanks!
Zach
Shreyansh Jain: I'll check this out
Zach
Guy Mannerings: Sweet, thanks for confirming!

Zach To take this further could we have Sub-task detection here as well - so (open) Sub-Task name contains/does not contain etc... That way we can trigger an action if a certain sub-task exists or not ( for example - to create that sub task if it doesn't' already exist)
Zach
Live now: Trigger "Task name updated"
Live in ~2-3 days: Condition "Task name updated" including RegEx

Zach, Outstanding!

Awwsooome Zach! Hey I was thinking about this today; will this unlock other possibilities such as the ability to add/delete certain words from a task title? For instance when a task is added via email an automation to remove "Fwd:" and the like?
Ignacio Nieto Carvajal
Zach I personally voted +1 for this, but I think maybe the ClickUp team missed (or misunderstood) the meaning here (or I did).
The OP is not asking for an automation to be triggered if the task name changes. At least, as far as I understand it, they are asking for a condition that will trigger the automation when the task name follows certain pattern. This is SUPER useful for MANY scenarios for our company. So it will be something like this:
- When a task is created (not name changes)
- IF THE NAME IS ..... / FOLLOWS REGEXP ........
- Then do this.
Is this implemented (I got the feeling you are just adding a "when", but in our scenario tasks usually don't change their names).
Thanks!

Ignacio Nieto Carvajal, totally agree with you! That's exactly what I need.
Marcy Holton
Zach Agreeing with Ignacio's comment. We are looking for the automation to be triggered when the task is created, for example from email ingestion. If the task created has "x" in the name, automatically assign it to "x" member.
Zach
Ignacio Nieto Carvajal: I think you'll be happy.

Zach thank you!!!

coming soon

Zach I do see it in our account on space level already but it seems to be 50% build without explanations and doesnt work.

Florian Zach I saw it too in our account and built a few automations. Now it's gone again and the automations do not work anymore. Very Frustrating!
Zach
Nils Duerr Florian - Hey so sorry! We had a small issue where an incomplete version showed in your accounts early. This will be done, shipped and usable next week properly! Thank you
Florian
Nils Duerr Will be implemented shortly :)

Zach superb! Can't wait!

Please let some AI agent work on the task name when triggered Zach

I want AI agent to assign details from task name to trigger certain automations or when the automations run and change certain custom fields, I want the name of the tasks to change as well following a fixed pattern. Alex Omeyer (ClickUp) Zach

When a status is changed, then the automation is triggered, however, in the condition settings there's no sign of "Task Name" in the dropdown field. Please add "Task Name" in trigger condition

I have to create a dropdown custom field solely to use it as a condition—assigning an option to each task I want to automate. It's extremely frustrating! Why not apply the same logic used in the "Filter by Task Name"/"Search in Task Name" feature to automations as well?
