Trigger automations based on task name

Zach Lily Chan Can some attention please be directed to this request? There are numerous similar feature requests (listed below) which put the broader request for Task Name as an automation condition/trigger/action to well over 1k votes. The fact many haven't been merged and none of them are in planning gives the impression this feature isn't on the radar.
It is such a core application of automation that its absence is pretty glaring. I've spoken to at least two support persons that even admitted they assumed it existed, and were surprised that it didn't. The inability to automate using task names, the most basic part of a task, is a major roadblock to so many efficiencies and means significantly more manual entry/configuration, greater room for error, and more tasks improperly filled or filed.

What's this? A several-year-old, highly voted request for basic functionality that should have been included at feature launch, which hasn't even been so much as acknowledged by the ClickUp team?
ClickUp needs to onboard some sort of project management system to help keep these organized.

Guys, we're waiting 5 years for this. Is ClickUp really that bad in managing product development?
Tranell Montague
Do we need to have a certain number of comments to get this moved to the planned section?
Filip De Clerck
Based on text in the name, description or the email address that was used to email a task to a list.
Scott Henning
YES, WHERE IS THIS FEATURE!? This request is almost 5 years old.

It is 2025 ClickUp!! Where is this basic feature?
Tranell Montague
Michael Whitehurst you can say that again.

I'm not sure why this basic feature isn't already available!? Seems so simple and common sense to be able to have a word based filter as a trigger.
I am looking to sort tasks that clickup creates from incoming email action items to be able to move the tasks into the appropriate List (which I have set per project). Depending on what the email created task is also depends who it is assigned to. Instead I have to manually drag the tasks to the respective lists, and manually assign them to the responsible person...
Just asking for a simple filter option for Task Name -
if task name = 'X'
if task name contains 'Y' (with option for case sensitive or non-case sensitive)
Tranell Montague
Diane Borys I couldn't agree more. This would make life a lot easier.

Agreed, this would allow me to make 95% of the automations I am thinking of to help me increase work flow.

This is insane. Every time I go to create an automation, it can't do what I want. The most basic things. Like this. I have an integration that creates a task and appends something to it, but I can't detect it because this basic feature doesn't exist. Why is it ALWAYS like this. Platforms create useless automation features and ignore the most basic ones. You already have ALL THE OTHER FIELDS accessible by the automation. WHY NOT NAME! AHHHH
Tranell Montague
Jason Oeltjen I keep running into these situations. It's maddening.

Tranell Montague, unfortunately this is the ClickUp experience. Excellent vision; careless execution. Automations are a great concept, but I can't wrap my brain around how it gets launched without the single most useful and expected trigger AND failing to acknowledge user feedback requesting it for 5 years.
Tranell Montague
Nick K you summed that up really well. I hope we get more comments so we can move this along.
