Variables (dynamic values) in Templates (task name, description, etc.)
Allan Nygren
We launch products that have different names and would love the ability to have variables within project templates for task names and descriptions.
For example, when you spin up a new project for launching 'Project Alpha', it would be great to be able to put the Project Name into a field and have that populate through all the tasks with Project Name in the task title or description.

Dynamic Fields for Templates
Lesford “LJ” McKenzie
This would allow us to be able to build faster, if there could be dynamic updates made when you select a template. As in, if I have a folder template I would add in a [client name] place holder wherever I need dynamic info and then when I use the template it prompts me to fill in the needed dynamic fields. *Hope this makes sense. If not, let me know. P.S would either need a standard set of place holders we can use or 1 general one that would allow us to replace the placeholder with some text.

Global variable pool

Being able to use global variables would be a huge improvement on templates.
The same principle as Postman for example where one could define a list of variables based on workspace / space / folder and then be able to use those inside templates (document / task / ...)
A prompt could be shown when using an "unknown" variable when applying the template. This way only 1 syntax can be used to use pre-defined as well as template-specific variables.

Setting Up templates to create unique custom fields.
Eugene Orlik
Setting Up templates to create unique custom fields. When you use custom fields from one project to another, even though the use for the custom fields is the same, the naming could be different depending on the client's preferences. So we need to go and create custom fields for every project and remap them in all the lists, Is it possible to Create Unique custom fields every time we create a new project?

Merge tags for template subtasks

It would be handy to have a way to automatically input the task name within the subtask when templating so that subtasks can be identified more easily

Introduce ability to add "placeholder"/"dummy" drop down fields to templates

We use clickup to manage digital marketing work for our clients. One of our workflows relates to creating content clusters for client's SEO work.
I recently added a drop down to our "content creation" task template with the aim of me being able to assign content ideas to a parent content cluster category. The values of those content cluster categories would naturally different per client. I initially set the dropdown values in the template to "Primary cluster 1", "Primary cluster2" etc as I had (incorrectly) assumed that I would be able to subsequently rename those values at client level. However, when I did so, I observed that the dropdown values within the parent changed to match.
Desired behaviour:
To be able define dummy values for a drop down at task template level, and then be over to redefine those values at a lower level (e.g. list level) without it changing the parent template.
Example use case:
Client A (A digital agency):
* "Primary Cluster 1" changed to: "SEO"
* "Primary Cluster 2" changed to: "Social Media"
* "Primary Cluster 3" changed to: "PPC"
Client B (A eCommerce site selling products):
* "Primary Cluster 1" changed to: "Cameras"
* "Primary Cluster 2" changed to: "Phones"
* "Primary Cluster 3" changed to: "Printers"
Client C (A client offering gardening services) :
* "Primary Cluster 1" changed to: "Lawns"
* "Primary Cluster 2" changed to: "Hedges"
* "Primary Cluster 3" changed to: "Wildlife"

Template Custom/Dynamic SubFolder, Lists, Tasks - title naming

It would be nice if we could either find & replace or append the title to lists &/or tasks when creating templates

Ability to set naming conventions when a template is loaded

Clickup wants to save us time and one time waster is updating names of tasks for templates.
Have a way for us to set a template for the task name so it auto generates.

Task title in Templates
George
From support: It would be nice if we were able to save a task title separately from the Template title. I want to save our users some time to input the task name and have it pre populated with some static info on it.

Yes! This essential for consistency across our spaces and projects. For specific task types I would LOVE to ensure that we are able to set the task name with field tags so our naming is consistent, searchable, understood by all... Thanks!
