Conditional custom fields
Brittany Myers
It would be great to have custom fields conditional based on time estimates (i.e. high effort if > 20 hours estimated).

I believe this conditional custom fields FR is not classified correctly, as this is more of a UI/UX issue than it has to do with Fields, Formulas, or Statuses... In my opinion the addition of a feature like this would allow for direct competition against stronger more industrial alternatives such as ServiceNow, where state based logic drives the UI/UX.
In ClickUp, people have to design their own workflow, and then primarily use Dashboard cards showcasing complex filters, which often change in a growing system...
Implementation of this FR would be crucial as in order to only show the necessary fields within a task a ClickUp designer must either create a view, or a space which manually shows the custom fields. Ultimately if the user drills down into the task, they'll suffer because custom fields bloat the UI/UX dominating their workspace, instead of guiding them to exactly whats NECESSARY.
The only items that should be visible for a task, are the fields necessary to advance it to the next stage.
From a UI/UX standpoint, a likely first step to implement this is a way to create custom "Task" views, where tasks will only show the custom fields necessary, and the view is rearrangeable, and shifts when conditions are met.
Next step would be to make some sort of state wizard governing the visibility of the view, which for example might say:
"If X is true, and Johnny is an appleseed, then show 'Y view."
"Y View now shows CF 1, and CF2"
This state based logic would simply close the operational gap that ClickUp champions often are the caretakers for, which is caused by difficult to track, hard coded logic thats NECESSARY for advanced, custom workflows, which often drives dashboards, and can become CONFUSING to users NOT familiar with the entire automation orchestration of a space.
Bottom line, designing the workflow at a task level is crucial for efficiency in using this application.
Otherwise the burden lies on people building and rebuilding dashboards, constantly rechecking filter logic, and troubleshooting automation flows, which goes against the whole point of having a task management software...
Would really LOVE to see this done.

This is very important feature !

These should be merged into this request as well:
It has been 5 years since original request! If you add up the votes in other tasks, it is clearly not some random request.
ClickUp, any updates on this, is this planned to be implemented? You did good job with Forms, similar logic could apply here.

It has been 5 years... when is this going to become a reality it seems like a pretty simple feature that almost every other platform for forms has.

This is a must requirement. Other CRM softwares already have it

Would like to have a conditional mandatory field requirement based on certain custom field selection.
Example, when the item type = Bug, then the field "Occurrence Area" becomes mandatory for input

One can have other software show fields conditionally.

Julian Dumitrascu how do i do it?

Why is this not yet in process when 200+ people voted for it and its already 2+ years there 🙈

a lot of these things could be easily achieved if automations could read formula fields and write dynamic data to other fields

Or on task type
