Manage all your tags from a single menu.
> It would be helpful if there was a list somewhere (on the side bar perhaps?) of all tags and perhaps a count, it would be based on whatever you have selected (i.e. if you are in a project, it should list the tags which are in that project, same for space, and so on).
> Merge tags
HI, also not sure this is the right place for this, but wanted to add a vote for Tag hierarchies, discussed here: https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/tiershierarchy-of-tags
I think it would be great if I could have tags that could be grouped, then reported on. Fore example, "development" and the subtags would be "bug," "story," "impediment," "hotfix" etc.
Thanks guys!
Part of a robust tag management feature would be to have tag / sub-tag /n-sub-tag functionality.
We need this place, because i imported tasks from Jira and i want to delete alot of the tags by bulk, so what would be nice instead is ability to select multiple task and "clear all tags" or set tags to "xx"
Yes, tags on a single menu/tab would be very helpful. The workaround is to filter tags and save the view as a favourite... For calendar blocking/time blocking its important to have quick access to all tasks with a special tag. So you look into your calendar for the block and click the similar tag in the app, to see all tasks (sorted by due date or/and priority) you can work on. Such a tag view/tab like in most Todo Apps (Todoist, TickTick,..)
I don't know if this would fall under the same feature as tag manager, but I would really like to use tags as a way to share with specific groups (i.e. Client 1 tag would share that task with a set of guests from that client or a Marketing tag would share with a couple people from the marketing team and retroactively share when I add a new person to that group).
It would also be good to see a list of all tags with a count of tasks with each. You should also be able to join tags that are similar (i.e mrktng >>Marketing)
Please add your ideas and use cases here, as we will be considering this feature in the near future.
If you are able to create any mockups or provide examples of something that exists today, that's extremely helpful.
Thanks!
@Zeb: Hi Zeb
I think a way I had been imagining a Tag Manager was in two different contexts.
Context 1 (Administrator)
I wish there was a page that let you look at Tags system wide and see them all in one place. I would only want the admin role to have access to the tag admin page. From this page the admin would have the ability to edit tags system-wide. Meaning as the admin I could go in and look through the tags and clean and organize them. Like most systems where regular member roles can create things like tags, what that can lead to is a lot of fragmentation, where users might create multiple tags that overlap each other. For example, if I as the admin could look and see that we've got 3 different tags that mean the same thing, yet users have created slightly different versions, like "Operations", "Ops," "Operations Team". I'd love to be able to choose those tags in the tag admin page like a multi-select and then call them all "Operations".
Context 2 (System Use)
Instead of just having a drop down list of all the tags that have ever shown up in that space before, I wish there was a quick pop up menu that was tag categories. So when I click tags the pop up shows a customizable menu with 2 to 3 options as the high level buckets. I'd like it if they were something like
"My Tags" (with tags I favorited because I use them all the time)
"Space Tags" (with the tags most commonly use in that space)
"Tag Groups" (with a drop down list of Tag Groups)
This would let me quickly click and choose which types of tags I need. It would also be nice if users could customize this behavior and choose any or all of those buckets above as their default for a space, or system wide.
When clicking the "Tag Groups" I imagine it like the following
"Marketing"
"Systems"
"Operations"
"Client Relations"
etc.
Those are just examples, I'd like the ability on the admin page to create those groups and then create and assign all of the tags that go within a group. I feel like this would make it much easier to find a specific tag when needed, while also letting me as the admin create tag policy so that we have system wide continuity.
@Mike Schropp: Got it, thanks for your help Mike! It sounds like if we added the ability to merge tags as well as folders for tags, that would do the trick?
@Zeb: Yes! That would be great! And if you could make it so that there is a Tag Management page just for admins that would be awesome. But I'd also be happy with just the ability to merge tags (admin only), plus have tag folders/groups for now. And maybe in the future have a tag management page if it's not in the cards for development right now. Thanks!
@Mike Schropp: Awesome, thanks again for your feedback!
@Zeb:
Two types of tags are needed:
A) Private Tags
B) Public Tags
--------------------------
A) Private tags
- any user should be allowed to create his/her tags with those tags being private to them.
- basically free form tags that are manageable and searchable by user
--------------------------
B) Public tags
- are more formal tags organized at Space / Folder level by Space / Folder admin
- Space admin should be able to delegate the Tags Creation / Organization to other users
- Public tags should have the Name (Key) and the Value
i.e. Name (Key) could be Stage
- Values for Stage tag could be: Test / Pre-Prod / Live
Clicking on a tag should automatically filter all tasks that have the particular tag added.
One should be able to save this filtered view for future use
This filtered view should be exportable
Public tags should be reportable
Tasks should have the Tag Count field associated with them so when you display the tasks in list view you would have an optional Total Tags filed that could be displayed to show the total number of tags associated with the tasks. i.e. 3. When you hover over the number 3, tag names should be displayed in the pop up window
--------------------------
In addition to tagging the tasks, everything within CU should be taggable.
i.e.
- objects embedded in the tasks should be taggable
- attachments
- checklists
- docs
- conversations
- embedded pagers
- boards
- lists
etc...
--------------------------
And please, make the tags visually appealing and colorful and more pronounced than the current tags.
Hope this helps.
Thanks!
@Zeb: Filtering by anything right now (including tags) is a bit click-heavy. it would be nice it you could just start typing, and the system would be smart enough to start pulling up all the possibilities without having to click down through a menu. Or some other form of streamlining for the filtering precess. This is actually less for me (since I realize the idea is that you just set up your own set of search shortcuts) but for co-workers who don't want to do that for whatever reason. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Zeb: It would be really helpful to have tags listed in a single menu, with how many tasks have each tag assigned, so you can easily see tags that are not being used and an option to delete them all in one place. I'm having to do this manually and it is very time consuming.
@Zeb: tag / sub-tag / n-sub-tag hierarchy would be a super useful add
Provide the tools needed to manage tags properly, and let the admin and team decide the best way to implement. For example, no controls (people can create and use any tags), fully centralized control by admin (use predefined tags only; new tags added by admin only) or something in between. Whatever works best for the team. But ClickUp needs to provide the tools for managing this full spectrum of uses cases.
Hi Zeb I really would love to use tags if I could hide, multi-edit/filter but until they are more user friendly they are just annoying me - so can't use! Notice not even planned at mo anything showing in another post. Any update would be appreciated please
Hey is there any word on this feature? Managing and trying to keep on top of org-wide tags is a nightmare for me at the moment
Can't seem to remove tags when bulk select tasks - only get the three options Delete, Rename, Change Color.
Would be wonderful to have the ability to remove tags (like GMail does with Labels)
