Tag Manager
building now
Manage all your tags from a single menu.
> It would be helpful if there was a list somewhere (on the side bar perhaps?) of all tags and perhaps a count, it would be based on whatever you have selected (i.e. if you are in a project, it should list the tags which are in that project, same for space, and so on).

Hi everyone! Excited to share that development is in progress for the tag manager. Here's a sneak peak of what we're building: https://share.clickup-stg.com/clip/s/t333/39c004be-f7e0-4c9b-80f9-b733ecf5d4e5/39c004be-f7e0-4c9b-80f9-b733ecf5d4e5.webm?filename=screen-recording-2025-10-17-10%3A44.webm
The initial version will give you the ability to view all your task tags in each Space, as well as create new tags, edit existing, and delete. We also plan to build out the ability to merge tags together to clean up similar or duplicate tags, and later adding support for doc and time tracking tags as well. I know there are a lot of great ideas about tags in the comments here, and please keep them coming! We welcome your feedback on anything you see in this demo as well. Can't wait to get this out to you - cheers!

can we have tag to set like custom field such that we can have the tag to be on workspace, space/folder/list and can be added to multiple locations. It is not easy to maintain tag with same name same colour on each spaces.
Ron Katz
Glad to hear the this is being worked on.
It would be helpful if tags had the same scope flexibility as custom fields — allowing them to be set at the list, folder, space, or workspace level.
Greg Atkins
This needs to be manageable at the workspace level, and the locations that feature the use of a given tag should be shown in the workspace level view along with the number of objects/task to which the tag is applied.
It is fine to allow options for more granular viewing, such a segmented per space.
The SORT should be possible by NAME (alphabetical ascending or decending) OR by COLOR.
The number of usages should be per task/object, and when you click the number, it should automatically open a LIST view of those tasks for easy reassignment of alternative tags, so that existing automations based on tags can be more easily managed if 2 or more tags are MERGED.

Really need Tags to be able to be set on the Workspace level, not just the Space level. That is, to me, by far the biggest problem with Tags right now.
Also, it would be great to be able to open all Tasks with a certain tag directly from the Tag Manager.
Jan Beco
From my point of view, the most important aspect is being able to manage and apply a single standardized set of tags across all Spaces. Having different tags per Space makes reporting, automation, and cross-team workflows unnecessarily complex. A unified tag structure at the workspace level — with consistent names and colors — should be the foundation of this feature.
Elias
Pls integrate this with custom field manager (maybe a tab?). It be annoying to have to explain to people the difference. Tags should just be a field. -> why not renaming custom field manager to field manager and having all of this in ther.

One key need for an organization (workspace level) is to keep tags consistent in name and color. It would be important to prevent the recreation of the same tag in different spaces, slight variations, etc. When creating/selecting a new tag, please at least show the existing tags in the workspace and allow the user to make a choice before creating another. Thanks

If we could get some additional filtering options that would be great for our team. For example if we could filter it to a date range, whether that is the task creation date, or if it could use custom fields to filter the count. It might be getting more into the realm of dashboards, but if it had more robust filtering options that would be great to do a quick check on things via tags.
Maggie Hanlon
yeah, I'd love to see what's in that "filter" at the top of the tag manager

Will there be a feature to add/manage tags at the workspace level as well as the space level?

Caroline Ginty, That's great, looks good. How can we opt-in to have it enabled on our account as testers?
Elise Remissong
Caroline Ginty When tags are "merged", will this affect any automations that rely upon the tags? I know when custom dropdown fields are merged, all of the automations need to be updated - which makes merging a non-option for us. Hoping to see this functionality improved for tags!

Caroline Ginty will this also include the ability to manage Time Tracking Tags?

Caroline Ginty Great start! I think an option to duplicate and bulk duplicate tags to different spaces would be amazing, or even better, have "Workspace" tags, similar to Workspace custom fields.

Caroline Ginty The usage count is an interesting piece but what would actually make that helpful for our teams would be to be able to get a full list of the tasks that tag is on.
Daniel Urbano
Caroline Ginty It would be nice if we could see tags from a Workspace perspective, as we can do with custom fields, and then be able to see all the tags with a column with the reference of which spaces have that tag enabled.
Nathan Allard
Caroline Ginty Looks awesone! Super excited for time tracking tag management! We track time by project and use tags to track by activity or asset. Currently there is no reporting abilities for time tracked by Tag. Using this would allow us to see what we're spending time actually doing instead of what tasks we are spending time on!
IE task time track: "Add comment reply" time: 53 minutes Tag: "computer"
>>>>>
Graph? Σif Time: Order by Time Tag: "Computer" or Time Tag: "Communications" and in date range: "X" and user: "X". etc etc
Aaron Shuman
Caroline Ginty Yes! Excited for this and looks like y’all are off to a great start

Caroline Ginty Thanks, it looks great!
I would appreciated managing by list or folder (or sort/filter by).
So maybe add a field locations in the management table?
