pin favorites in 4.0

Hey Emma Dacey & Lindsay Soriano - thanks for this feedback on the 4.0 layout. We are exploring some options here for favorites, but in the meantime, you can pin objects to the top in 4.0 in order to view them in the same place that the pinned favorites bar appears in 3.0.

Hi again. I'm finding it's also waaaay too easy to accidentally unpin a favourite from the top and then I have to go and find it and repin.

I was just upgraded to 4.0 today. We're shortstaffed as it is and I do NOT have time to waste trying to find everything again. I can't find my favourites anywhere. The AI support chatbot answers are no help. I've logged a support ticket but I need to find them now. They are my lifeline to get through my day today.
EDIT: Found them in the browser version, but I don't think they're all there. The ones I've found I've moved to the top. Individually. And the UI is awful. But, they're there. Funny thing though, one of my colleagues only has the favourites in the desktop app and not in the browser. I only have them in the browser and not in the app and I've checked for updates.
I feel like there used to be an easier way to get to the everything view too but I can't be 100% certain.
SECOND EDIT: Why don't my layout/customisation/navigation settings save between the browser and app anymore?
45 minutes at my desk and nothing done except trying to make clickup work.
THIRD EDIT: I'm pretty sure I could rename the favourites so the labels could be changed to something slightly different (and shorter) than the actual favourited item.
I just want 3.0 back. 😢

Heather: I'm very sorry to hear that you're having these issues with 4.0! We have a few things in flight right now to make this experience better:
- We're building an option to one-click move your Favorites to the top bar; if you were a pinned favorites user in 3.0, this will eliminate the need to move your items one-by-one.
- We have an active bug where changes made to the global navigation are reverting; our team has already fixed this issue and it will go out with the next release.
- For aliasing in 4.0, you can still alias/rename favorites (or pinned) Views. So you can use this menu to favorite (or pin to the top) a specific view, rather than the list as a whole, and then you will be able to label them however you like. We're exploring bringing this back for more object types in 4.0 as well, if that's something you'd find valuable, please upvote here: https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/renaming-favorites-without-renaming-original-item-alias-keep-feature-from-30-in
We are definitely still iterating on 4.0, and want to make it the best version of ClickUp, so we really appreciate the feedback!

Caroline Ginty Thanks for the reply. I've voted on the other too since it appears most of my favourites can't be renamed/aliased.

Option to pin favorites to top of Workspace - 4.0
Julian Devos
Since the update to Clickup 4.0 there is no option anymore to pin your favorites to the top of your workspace, only to the Home Sidebar.
My request is to bring this feature back into Clickup 4.0.
Now your favorites are not visible when you are in a task & you have to click on the sidebar to get it visible, as you can not lock the sidebar to stay visible.
Other option would be to lock the sidebar to stay open.

I'm in agreement with other voters, the reconfiguration has added steps I never used to make, and decreased my productivity

Reinstate favourites bar in Clickup 4.0

The favourites bar was vital when navigating complex workspaces with many lists etc. It is now buried behind a click, making it harder to navigate

Thank you for being on top of this. I recently had a case i created because I was not finding the pin option for the Sidebar.
It was very hidden to find only because one of the Support Techs walked me through the process I was able to figure it out. When inside a Task is effected the most for me. Where I had access to Pin the Sidebar and still see it as the task was open.
I am happy with the pin tasks now. There was a learning curve to it. I would like the capability to change pinning priorities from top to bottom.

Vincent D'Amico: Thanks for flagging this! As a note, if you use "Full Screen" task view rather than "Modal", you'll be able to access your sidebar as well as anything pinned to the top while in task view.

Caroline Ginty When in Full Screen of a Task it takes away the sidebar actually. But the new pinned areas will stay visible which is a big win. Its just a differeent method to the same thing just slightly different when task is open fully.
The List the sidebar keeps showing as pinned but when going in the task thats where it disappears. Which is fine I've gotten over it and adjusted. Appreciate you all working on this some deeply. Its a game changer for sure.

You can still add things to the top bar!

Agreed - I was shocked to see that they removed the universal favorites bar. How does that vibe with anything they said in the keynote about making it simpler and easier to navigate? They literally just made it an extra click to get to your favorites, how is that making the world more productive?

I had serious problem to find out how new Favorites work. Finally I was able to set them up.
However - pin/unpin for me is important function. Often we have video meeting with clients where I share my Clickup screen. During meeting I don’t want to show one client things in ClickUp that I have set up for other clients during a video call (e.g. Favorites bar, Folders/List bar, personal views, hidden fields).
My Favorites bar consists of names of clients so I was at least able to unpin Favorites before every call in previous version.
This problem also appears in other areas of Clickup. E.g. - if I set up some hidden fields, as soon as I share my screen, these fields are no more hidden. It would be so cool if there was a solution.

Ľubomír Šramo: Appreciate the feedback. For your use case, I would recommend using custom sections in your sidebar for anything that is more sensitive when sharing; that way, you can just collapse that section when screen sharing and that's likely going to be the easiest way to handle it.

Caroline Ginty thanks for the tip. Unfortunately - not ideal for me as a section would be burried in left sidebar. However - favorites were visible accesible on 1-click, both from task and list view.
Section is acccesible from task view - however I need to hover mouse over Home in sidebar, and then I need little bit of scrolling. But still it is not always visible compared to upper bar.
Maybe I will try to adapt to new solution, but adding pin/unpin possibility for favorites bar would be definitely better for me.

Caroline Ginty This method works great, but may be a bit unintuitive to most users, who think the feature is missing. Maybe adding this option in the main Favorites ellipsis instead of in each item would help.

Nathan George: Appreciate the feedback, we're continuing to monitor this request and will evaluate how to action on it. Thanks!

Caroline Ginty Where is this? I've looked in the favourites and settings. Really disappointed by this change.
Edit: Oh I have to pin each thing individually? That's so frustrating
