Default Task Type for Lists/Views
Mostafa Shabanpour
We'd love to see a feature that allows us to set a default task type for a specific list or view.
Currently, whenever we create a new task within a particular list, we have to manually change the task type. Being able to define a default task type at the list or view level would automatically apply the correct type when new tasks are created, saving us a lot of time and clicks.
This would significantly streamline our workflow, especially for teams that frequently use specific task types within dedicated lists.

Everything view with custom filters is one of the reasons why we moved to ClickUp. It's super powerful.
But right now it gives a terrible experience when adding new tasks.
We are using it to manage my task view in a proper way. And each person in the company uses that. Right now when they want to add a new task, it ends up in a random list or demands selecting lists on every task added.
It's working bad in list view. It's even worse in board view where each time you're adding tasks, even if you add them subsequent one after another, you have to reselect the list you would like to add this task into.
And I see that all the time there have been plenty of requests for similar functionality.
Expected behavior:
- In view settings you give new option: default list for new tasks, where user can select a list
- Best if that shows only lists which are not filtered out by this view, but tbh, that's not very important
- By default this option is set to "automatic" (or any other word, suggesting current behavior).
- When new task is created in this view by default that list is selected. But user can change it as usual. No other changes needed to how task adding function
That's it. Simple to develop, but life changing in everything view (And your new my tasks and dashboards in Clickup 4.0 )
