Dashboard Templates

Our team works with different divisions and brands, so we need to set up separate dashboards for each of these groups to view privately. We would love the ability to save templates for dashboards/widget setup since we need to collect the same types of information for each group but with different filters (so they can see they're specific stats.) This would help us cut down setup time tremendously within Clickup.

Hey, everyone! 👋
We're excited to share that Dashboard views (and Location Overviews) will now be included in templates 🎉
When saving a template, just make sure you have "views" checked on for the included items, and you'll see the Dashboard views come across!
Stay tuned later this year when we release Dashboards as their own template type, allowing you to create a standalone Dashboard or a Dashboard view directly from a template!
ALTEREGO BRAND COMPANY
it would be nice to see the custom ability to get creative with the dashboard. that's branded for your company such as nice backdrops and etc. automations for greeting your team with custom wording or motivation words just a thought.

Hello.
Please update/clarify ClickUp documentation regarding Folder templates and the behavior of Overview and Dashboard views when creating a new Folder from a template.
Actual behavior in the product:
1) If you save a Folder template where the
Overview
is configured (cards added/removed, their placement changed, sizes adjusted, and display settings set), then when you create a new Folder from this template
, the new Folder recreates the Overview layout
as it was saved in the template.2) The same applies to a
Dashboard view
inside the Folder: if the Folder template includes a Dashboard view configured in a specific way (cards, layout, settings), then when you create a new Folder from the template, that Dashboard view retains the card structure and settings
, while pulling data from the new location
(the newly created Folder).3) Additionally: you can maintain a “template” Dashboard (created in a Folder or in the Dashboards Hub), then
duplicate
it and move
it into the required Folder/List. The duplicated Dashboard preserves the preconfigured layout and card settings and then starts showing data for the location it is moved into.Problem:
The current documentation does not describe this scenario and gives the impression that Overview/Dashboard settings are not preserved when creating a Folder from a template or that they must be rebuilt from scratch. This leads to incorrect guidance and forces users to perform a large number of manual steps when standardizing workspaces (when the same Overview/Dashboard layout is needed across many Folders/Lists). In addition, when asking the Brain Max AI how to standardize a Dashboard or Overview, the system recommends manually reconfiguring the Overview and Dashboard in each Folder, both for existing Folders and when creating new ones.
Please:
- add explicit documentation on whether Overviews and Dashboard viewsare preserved when creating a Folder from aFolder template, and describe the exact behavior;
- separately document the “template Dashboard” workflow: duplicating and moving a preconfigured Dashboard into a specific Folder/List while preserving the layout and automatically switching the data source to the destination location.
Thank you.

I believe my request falls in line with the previous post titled "Saving Dashboard views as templates". For my company, it would be great to have the ability to templatize custom cards so that I don't have to manually add them into a Dashboard view for each new sprint. Is something like this in the works already?

I need to save dashboards views within a list/board as a template to use in a different board/list. It becomes very difficult to create dashboard views manually for each project, we keep on-boarding new projects every week, adds about 2-3 hours of work just duplicating these views

I'm surprised I'm not seeing this yet, but along with the ability to share dashboards publicly (which is mostly going to be used for client-facing dashboards), we need the ability to template the dashboards. This way we can create them and share them with clients easily, without needing to manually re-create the whole dashboard every time.
