HubSpot does this extremely well and has been since 2018.

When you move a deal along a pipeline, you can setup up each stage to popup fields to be completed. Field can be required or optional. If required, the user needs to select something (or fill something in) before it is accepted in that stage.

We need this in 2025 🙏🏾

This would be incredibly useful and make ClickUp so much more conducive to being used as workflow tool.

Scenario defect fixing: Most of the devs forgot to fillout the custom field before change the X Status, Those custom field we added is important to our QA documentation. There is a time the tickets with X status has no fillout to that custom field and we need to followup with the devs to revisit and it takes time. We tried already the automation but not working as expected.

This would be a game changer for project workflows.

As we move forward with project, the necessary fields or checklists will have to be filled out by the assignee in order to move it to the next status and get it off their table

It's really difficult to understand why this basic feature is missing.

We really need this feature to conditionally apply the required field validation based up on a particular value of a field. That would be super nice.

Would be useful not only for task done, but also to mark some tasks as "Ready" that have some custom fields completed. It's quite different from https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/make-standard-fields-required-when-creating-a-task because the workflow could allow to review those tasks in a PBR or something else (I think it have been said in this conversation).
