Voice Notes

Could we please get a Voice Notes feature? For both desktop and mobile.
This would either be separate to Notepad, or built in to Notepad.
I.e., we could create a note and leave a voice note in it. Or we could create voice notes that cannot be written in.
Probably the first option is the most flexible and best option, and would be preferable, as you could add text before or after a voice note.
It needs to be quick - Click "create new note", click microphone icon, speak.
Essentially, if you add a voice note button to Notepad, that would work. And then a quick link to create a voice note from inside the app, and long-pressing the ClickUp icon on mobile.

Voice notes for Notepad notes

It would be great if we could attach voice notes to Notepad notes, like we can with Comments on Tasks.

Voice notes with transcriptions with ability to attach to tasks, lists, etc...

Voice transcription enabled notes and logging.
It would be useful to have a Siri enabled voice and transcription based notes.
1. A note would be a standalone entity with ClickUp.
2. The note could be created using voice and would be stored as both a voice memo and text.
3. A note could be attached to one or several tasks, lists, spaces, etc...
4. Reporting would include
a. Daily log of notes
b. Notes by task, list or space
5. One should be able to set reminders ie. every 2 hours or 4 pomodoros to make a log entry.
If you could have this by Monday, that would be terrific!

I want to get rid of Granola because I'll dump it into ClickUp after that. I want to be able to make a voice recording directly by clicking on the plus icon on the mobile app.

Yes we need this, as well as now being able to have ai provide summaries of the notes this could be how we manually utilize the note taker and then these should also show up in the documents under some type of tab. Alex Lashkov what do you think of this. Thing it would be a nice way to be able to get the ai notetake to be able to be used in those ad hoc or meeting where we cant bring our agents in at least we can record the memo to a note and still get the notetaker summaries and action items. I know we can do this in a task but it is rather finicky to do and I dont always want a task created just to take a voice memo of a meeting.
Alex Lashkov
Lesford “LJ” McKenzie hmmm, we now work on meeting agents - bascially you would be able to send an agent to a meeting and it could do stuff with the transcript. It won't be like that you can cut a 5 min clip out of an hour long video with it though...
Or if there is an ad-hoc thing happening and we need to record a some part of it, why not activate CU Clips for that? It won't be in a meeting transcript though in this case too..
Lesford “LJ” McKenzie
Alex Lashkov CU clips is not available on mobile I think that's really the solutions for my use case. Say I am in person with someone and I just want to records our conversation and get AI notes. Meeting Agents are nice for Virtual Meetings but for live in-person stuff; having to use my computer & also it recording a video is a bit much just want to be able to quickly be able to grab voice clips that can be translated on the fly.
Alex Lashkov
Lesford “LJ” McKenzie ah, mobile, then yeah I will leave it to Joeye to decide on how this might unfold and when!
For in-person stuff and notetaking, we do not plan any mobile-related updates in this and next quarter due to capacity. But I will think what we can do! There was a plan to introduce a no-bot notetaker, it might have mobile version at some point - but for offline meetings speaker detection will always be a hard problem to crack...
Lesford “LJ” McKenzie
Alex Lashkov yea I can see that being another big issue. Larger quick solutions for that would be having all people sign up and use sync up. So I guess we could do that for now. But for this use case I am not worried about that separation just being able to take voice memos and them being able to be transcribed from mobile would atleast be a good start. Thanks for you help and insight as always.

Lesford “LJ” McKenzie: Same for you! Interesting topic raised as usual 💪💪💪

Why not just have a Voice Notes option for Notepad that can be made on-the-go?
Simple, quick, effective.
If offline, they would upload once back online (needs to save to CU app in case it closes whilst offline, too, so it uploads upon re-open and when back online).
Or just expand comments in to notepad and get the same thing.
I am having to use a different app to make quick voice notes (Letterly) but would rather use CU.
Clips does not work for this - I don't want videos of everything, and there is 0 organisation.

Adding a Voice Notes feature for both desktop and mobile would be a highly practical improvement, especially if integrated into Notepad where users could create a note, click a microphone icon, and instantly record alongside written text for maximum flexibility. This quick-access design would allow users to seamlessly add spoken thoughts without interrupting workflow, similar to how people use quick-reference sites like AW Menu Prices Canada https://awmenupricescanada.com/ for instant information. Having a dedicated button inside the app, plus a long-press shortcut on the mobile icon, would make capturing ideas faster and more intuitive.

That’s a fantastic suggestion, John! Having voice notes with automatic transcriptions that can be attached to tasks, lists, and spaces in ClickUp would streamline productivity, especially for users who rely on hands-free input. The ability to create standalone voice-enabled notes, store both audio and text, attach them across different workspaces, and generate reports (like daily logs or notes by task) would make organization effortless. Adding reminders every few hours or based on pomodoros further enhances time management. It’s similar to how some external tools provide extra convenience, like http://nullsbrawll.de/ does in its own niche, and integrating this directly into ClickUp would be a game-changer for efficiency.

Adding a Voice Notes feature would be a fantastic enhancement for both desktop and mobile users, allowing notes to include audio clips either integrated within Notepad or as standalone voice notes. The most flexible approach would let users create a note, record a voice message, and add text before or after it, making the experience seamless and efficient—simply click "create new note," tap the microphone icon, and start speaking. A quick-access button inside the app and long-press functionality on mobile would further streamline the process. For an example of a platform that emphasizes quick, easy note creation and user-friendly features, you can check out https://how-many-of-me.com/.

Adding a Voice Notes feature to Notepad on both desktop and mobile would be a highly useful and flexible enhancement. Ideally, users should be able to quickly create a new note, tap a microphone icon, and instantly begin recording—seamlessly combining text and audio in one space. This setup allows for efficient capture of thoughts in real-time, with the freedom to add written context before or after the voice input. Including this functionality as part of Notepad, rather than a separate tool, ensures smoother workflows.
