I’d love to be a ale to have a flow where I can type a task title, hit return, and immediately be typing another task. I could then go and flesh out the task more later. I use this feature in Todoist in meetings all the time.

We are currently rolling out the new Task Creation experience for mobile! If you don't see it yet, you will see it soon 🚀 I hope you love it!
What is in this release:
- Drafts! If you start creating a task and stop, it will autosave to a drafts list that you can resume later. Drafts are also autocreated if tasks fail to upload.
- Customization for what happens after you create a task! You can now set it up so every time you create a task, it auto opens or automatically starts creating another one for faster creation on the go!
- Default to Personal List. If you haven't recently created a task in a List, we will default to Personal List so you don't have to pick a spot for things to go every time.
- Rich mentioning of people, tasks, and docs in task descriptions during creation. Use @ @@ or @@@ just like on web. Also you can use light formatting in the task description too like bold and italic.
- Enter Custom Fields during creation! If you are creating somewhere with the Custom Fields ClickApp, you can fill out these fields during creation.
- New status and task type picker.
- Tons of smaller UI improvements
What is still in progress:
- Brand new location picker with recent locations at the top. Target is in the next 2 weeks.
- Improvements to the @ @@ and @@@ popup so that it looks better on iPhones with dynamic island. Target in the next 2 weeks.
- Improvements to the status picker search logic. Target in the next 2 weeks.

Joey Please default to personal list or last used list when we use clickup mobile widget shortcuts like "Create Task" and "Create Reminder".
Also do this when we use app shortcuts when we long press clickup mobile's app icon.

Joey on Todoist if I type a task and press enter it allows me to type another task immediately, on ClickUp i have the option to do the same, as it has an option of start another one after submitting the task, but the issue is that it opens a new task creation window, but the cursor is not at the right place and there is an additional setup to click the screen where I need to type the new task in the new window and then start typing the task , it’s not as seamless as Todoist, where I type a task press enter and type another one without the need to select the cursor at the right place. The keyboard is always open till the time I am done typing all the tasks and the cursor is always at the right place. You think we can enable the cursor at the right place in ClickUp also for create and start another option and make things more seamless just like in Todoist

It doesn't work for me. The tasks are not created and are being kept in the draft

The task is not created at all. It is stuck in the draft with no apparent way to create it

Joey I've encountered a few bugs:
I created a task in my preset list using the iOS widget and added a description. Unfortunately, the description was not saved and has been lost, which is quite frustrating.
I just noticed that this issue always occurs when using "Create Task and Start Another." The description is saved for the first task, but not for the second one.
And I received a "list limit" error serveral times when trying to create a task.

Now it seems like I can’t create tasks at all because of needed custom fields and they just get put as drafts . Is there a solution I’m missing ?
Joey
Marcus McDuffie: Hi! Slide on the bottom toolbar with the Status button. You will see a Custom Fields button. Tap on that and fill out the required fields.
If you aren't sure which fields are required, then you should ask who owns the List or who could have set them up. This matches the same behavior as the web app, where before we let users create tasks without the required fields (which was not good)
Joey
OH I forgot - we also now check the filters and grouping on views during creation so that if you tap on Add Task in a view, it will pre-fill in any filters and grouping settings that the view already filters for. This has been on web for a little bit and is now going to be on mobile :)

Joeystill doesnt address the parent task and how NOTHING of the subtasks show as part of the parent task.....we have 36 subtasks which are constant for EVERY project we do.....all we get is that there is something do for the parent task.....nothing about what that subtask is!
Joey
mike cialdella: You mean in List view you can't see the parent task name for subtasks, correct?
Joey
nikolas: Not at the moment!
m
mike cialdella
Joeyi cant see the parent name....but NOT the associated subtasks which are the important items for each project.....for instance....parent project might be Disney Annual Report...but the subtask might be proofs due......the only thing that shows is the parent title only....so all we have w 300 projects is the name of parent tasks with no idea what the subtask is to achieve
Joey
mike cialdella: Are you talking about your emails or within the mobile app? You shared this image before from an email
m
mike cialdella
Joeythese tell us absolutely nothing about the project name which is associated with the parent task...not even the parent task name is listed....here is a screen shot as well from the desktop version which is fantastic! you can easily see what i am taking about
Marcus McDuffie
Joey Now it seems like I can’t create tasks at all because of needed custom fields and they just get put as drafts . Is there a solution I’m missing ?
Joey
mike cialdella: Thanks for that screenshot, that helps a lot! Do you need the List name AND the parent task name, or do you just want to see the parent task name?
Joey
Marcus McDuffie: I replied to you above Marcus!
m
mike cialdella
Joey— we'd want to see the parent task name as that is the proejct details.....and then what is due for a particular date....which would be one of the 36 subtasks
Andrew Trinh
Joey This seems to work on list views but not on board views.

Thank you for the update, Joey.
Any chance that pasting in a list of items will prompt the creation of multiple tasks like in the web or app experience yet?
Joey
Michael: Not with this update but it's on our radar! 😎
Michael

Thank You for letting us know.

Hi Joey, I have lists with filters (eg. due date and status) and the add new task text and icon buttons no longer function. The buttons do work in regular list and board views though.
Joey
Andrew Trinh: Great catch! I just found a fix for this bug and will try to get it in our next release :)

We need to have the same required fields that have to be filled on when creating a task on the desktop to be required fields on the mobile app. We have users that are addicted to thier phones and rarely use their computers. When they create tasks using their phones a lot of information is missing beacue there are not required fields other than the task name. This is a real problem for us. Please add this feature to the mobile app.
