New Actions & Triggers for ClickUp Chat
We’re excited to announce two new triggers and two new actions for ClickUp Zapier integration that will supercharge your workflows:
- New Message Posted to Channel:This trigger activates when a new message is posted to a specific ClickUp channel of your choice. You can even set it to trigger only when a specific user is mentioned in the message.
- New Reaction Added:This trigger activates when a reaction (emoji) is added to a message in a public ClickUp channel. Customize it further by triggering the action only when a specific user adds a reaction—making it perfect for tracking feedback, approvals, and more.
- Send Chat Message to Channel:This action allows you to post a message to a specific channel you choose.
- Send Direct Message:Send Direct Message: This action allows you to send a direct message to a user or to yourself within ClickUp.
In the next release, we will add some nice improvements to actions for Finding Tasks.
Thank you all for your feedback!

Zapier - Add an email field in the New Folder trigger
K
Kay Ham
Specifically, they'd like to see:
an email field
in the New Folder triggerAn example use case for this is:
*In new folder created in ClickUp (App A) there is an 'admin list' and within that list thge user inputs the CRM information including their
email
as tasks. Then the user wants to pass the data to App B to create a document. Once this has been done the user would like to pass the data to App C then it would send an email automatically.*

Tadej Jevševar Regarding the Zapier Time Entry Triggers– Should this now allow us to track time in ClickUp (natively) and have the entries replicated to Harvest? If so, that would be wonderful!
Relying on the existing Harvest app isn't ideal for a number of reasons discussed on other threads.
This is exciting. Thanks Tadej.

Tadej Jevševar Well I posted this last month, but I'm going to post it directly on this thread as well:
Somewhere along the way of updating CU Forms and CU Zapier integration, I need to be able to fill out 1 single form and create multiple tasks on different lists (or different Custom Task Types, once this gets updated to be its own object) all linked to a main task relationally. Currently CU Forms is lacking severely and perhaps this can all be done inside CU once they update the forms/automations, but if not, this at least needs to be brought up to whomever is working on Zapier. Not being able to create multiple tasks (aka objects) from a form AND link them together is really hampering a lot of important workflows.

Tadej Jevševar Hey Tadej, I'm specifically wanting to be able to trigger Zaps when a Custom Field changes on an entire Space. Looks like it's only possible to action this right now by targeting a specific List. This limits our ability to watch Custom Field changes across our entire org and run automations on them. We currently have multiple lists, and it this would mean we have to create a separate Zap which watches each and every single list in our org. Having the ability to watch the entire Space would resolve this.
Tadej Jevševar
Michael Bopp: The “New Time Entry” trigger works exclusively with ClickUp’s native time tracking feature. We haven’t tested replicating time entries to Harvest, but please let us know if you decide to try it out.
Tadej Jevševar
Hi Adam Jaffrey: Thank you for detailing the challenges you’re facing with the current trigger options. Could you please clarify which trigger you currently use to activate Zaps when a Custom Field (CF) changes on a List?
Additionally, are you looking for this new trigger to activate when a new CF is created in a Space, or would you prefer it to activate when the
value
of a specific CF changes?Michael Bopp
Tadej Jevševar Thanks! I gave it a try and it worked just as expected! Which is great!
I'm not sure if it's the way we'll proceed because this would only handle new time entries, and not any edits or deletes. We use Harvest, but would love to switch to using the ClickUps native time tracking if there were a better way to integrate it into our invoicing workflow.
Tadej Jevševar
Thanks Michael Bopp, that's great to hear that it works. Currently
New Time Entry
trigger only activate when new time entries are added to a tasks and does not support edits or deletes. We are working on a new trigger Time Entry Deleted
that will support that.Michael Bopp
Tadej Jevševar Thanks! It sounds like things are moving in the right direction! I appreciate the communication and continual improvements.

Tadej Jevševar Hey Tadej, we use the Zapier 'Trigger Event' of "Task Changes", and set the 'What Changed?' value to "Custom Field Updated".
I.e. This should trigger when the VALUE of a specific CF changes.
The problem is you can only do this on one List at a time. There's now way to watch an entire Space for changes. This feels like a needlessly restrictive choice, and means we have to run duplicates of the same Zapier zap watching different lists in our ClickUp.
Tadej Jevševar
Hey Matthew Burt. Sorry that I missed your post and thank you for reposting it. It won't be possible out of the box with Forms as Forms only create a single task. The closest you could get is using automations to duplicate the task into a desired List (and change the task type). From there though, we do not support relationships in Automations from my understanding so you would need to handle this manually.
As soon as setting relationship is available for Form submission we will make sure to enable it with our Zapier integration, but its not part of the upcoming update.
Matthew Burt
Tadej Jevševar Yeah unfortunately this problem requires 2 or three teams to update their stuff and none of them have a solution lol. Just wanted to make you aware for if/when it can happen.

I am trying to create an automation that uses the Custom Field within one list to index to the task names within another list. If the automation finds a task that matches the custom field then create a linked relationship.
In Zapier, I get a success with my Custom Action. But nothing is happening in ClickUp. Zapier says that the connection on their end is working and it's a communication error within ClickUp
Tadej Jevševar
Allison Capps: Hi Allison. Could you share how your Zap looks like so I can try to reproduce it and see what's the issue please?

Allison Capps
Tadej Jevševar 2, 4 and 6 are custom actions (although 4&6 are the same Custom Action)

Wish there was a way to:
A) Feed in a date and "Remap Dates" when creating a task from a template in Zapier AND/OR
B) Cause ClickUp to "Remap Subtask Due Dates" when a task due date is updated from Zapier
As it stands right, I create a task with a bunch of subtasks, and everything gets created with old dates. Then I have to go in manually update the task due date, which triggers subtask due date updates (assuming "Remap Dates" ClickApp is enabled).
