Microsoft Teams integration 2.0
future
Tadej Jevševar
We've recently launched a new update to our Microsoft Teams integration packed with new features and improvements such as:
- Create ClickUp Tasks from Microsoft Teams channel
- Attach Microsoft Teams message to a ClickUp Task
- Rich Link Previews of ClickUp Tasks, comments, and Docs in Microsoft Teams
- Sync ClickUp activity with Microsoft Teams for specific Spaces, Folders, and Lists in your Workspace. ClickUp activities are sent as messages to Microsoft Teams public channel of your choice.
- Rich Link Preview of Teams URLs in ClickUp.
What's next?
- Support for Teams Tab (embed view): Support for adding a tab in a channel to view ClickUp inside Teams.
- Support for ClickUp Notifications to be sent to Teams.
- Support for Rich Previews of Teams meeting in ClickUp.
We want to make this integration work even better for you. Please share your ideas and suggestions on how we can further improve the ClickUp and Teams experience. When sharing, try to include your user story—describe what problems you’re trying to solve. Your feedback will help us prioritize features that make the biggest impact for your team.
Thank you for helping us shape the future of ClickUp’s Microsoft Teams integration!

Peter Frei: Thanks for pointing to some examples; we will make sure to look at them.
"Future" Basically, this means we are planning on working on this, but it's not something that we expect to go out anytime within the next 2 quarters. not because its not important but because the team has a booked roadmap they are working though.

- Workspace-Wide Integration with Conditional Filtering
Current Limitation:
The current personal integration is too limited for project management needs. The lack of a proper workspace-wide integration with conditional filtering forces teams to create complex workarounds using multiple lists and automation steps.
Proposed Solution:
-> Workspace-Level Integration Controls:
- Allow project leads (with admin-role) to establish workspace-wide integrations that serve the entire team
- Connect specific ClickUp lists directly to designated Teams channels
Advanced Condition Builder:
-> Create precise notification rules based on multiple factors:
- IF [task is assigned to] [any member of Team X]
- THEN [post notification to] [Team X channel]
- Support for complex conditions using AND/OR logic operators
- Ability to filter based on custom fields, tags, priorities, and more
Specific Use Case example:
Scenario of notifying a Teams channel when tasks are assigned to team members:
- Team members see only relevant assignments in their channel
- All assignment notifications are properly organized by task
- No need for complex workarounds involving multiple lists and automation steps

- Thread-Based Task Updates
Current Limitation:
When multiple updates for the same task post to a Teams channel, they appear as separate messages, creating clutter and making it difficult to track task history.
Proposed Solution:
-> Task Threading Feature: Group all updates for the same task into a single conversation thread
- First update creates the thread with the task name as the thread title
- All subsequent status changes, comments, and assignments appear within that thread
- Option to configure which update types create new threads vs. continue existing ones
Benefits
- Creates a cleaner channel history with related information consolidated
- Makes following the complete history of a task much easier
- Significantly reduces channel noise in active project environments

What does "future" mean in this context?
This is a crucial feature to be released, similar to how Monday.com has built its integration. It allows users to have a ClickUp list or view as an app within MS Teams Channels tabs.
This request has over 1,000 voters and has existed for more than five years without being released. What is the logic here?

The embedded version of monday.com in MS Teams is really nice. It would be great if you could implement something similar for ClickUp as well. When will this be available, and what does “future” mean in this context?

As far as integration with Teams goes, wondering if there is a way for us to be able to set up automation rules to assign tasks to other teammates when we are OOO, without us having to manually turn the rule on or off. The calendar is already synced with Outlook, so wondering if this is possible?

Hey, everyone! We’re excited to share that we’ve created new statuses in Canny to provide more transparency and clarity around the progress of feature requests. We've updated the status of this request to reflect the updated status. The Product Manager will provide updates on this post when they have new details to share!

Rendering views within a team's channel would be amazing! Our users do not like having to log in to Clickup even though we have SSO and 2FA turned on.

Any update on Teams Tab (embed view)?
Tadej Jevševar
Rebecca Waroway: Sorry, still exploring this feature. Is there any specific ClickUp view you would like to have it as a "tab" in Teams (e.g. List, Dashboard)?

Rebecca Waroway
Tadej Jevševar: Hi Tadej, yes ideally we'd like an embedded view for a dashboard or list. I think it's common to get pushback on "using too many platforms", so having something we can integrate into Teams and use without having to navigate to a new webpage is valuable.
