Hi ClickUp Team,
I’d like to suggest an improvement for your educational content regarding the ClickUp hierarchy, specifically around how checklists and subtasks relate to tasks.
Currently, many resources and visuals don’t clearly show that both checklists and subtasks are direct children of a task, and that each can independently have their own steps. This can cause confusion for new users trying to understand how to best organize their work.
A clearer, text-based representation might look like this:
task
|-- checklist
| |-- steps
|-- subtask
. |-- checklist
. |-- steps
Key points to highlight:
Both checklists and subtasks branch directly from a task.
Each subtask can also have its own checklist and steps.
Checklists and subtasks are parallel structures, not nested within each other.
Including this kind of visual and explanation in your educational videos and documentation would help users better understand how to structure their projects in ClickUp.
Thank you for considering this suggestion!
P.S. - if/when the subfolder option comes out, you should definitely include it in the hierarchy tutorial videos and onboarding as well
