Whiteboard Hub set location on creation
Steve Szyndler
The concept and access to the whiteboard hub is good but there are a couple of sticking points that reduce its usefulness for teams.
- If a user wants to create a whiteboard they need permissions for the location where the whiteboard is created. This is OK but doesn't currently work with the button to create a new whiteboard from the hub. Creating a whiteboard from this button doesn't give users the option to choose the locations that they have edit access to in order to create the whiteboard. Instead it just tries to create one at the workspace level. This is fine for users with workspace level permissions but just doesn't work for having users with different space and access permissions. If a user that has permissions in only a given space tries to use the button to create a whiteboard from the hub they can't. They get an error that they need permissions. Obviously we can't have all users with workspace level permissions. While having a hub is great, it is not complete. It doesn't make sense to have a hub for a feature that doesn't allow users to work with that feature from the hub. I would suggest as a reasonably simple first step is to flesh out the create whiteboard action so that it allows users to select a location for the whiteboard based on their permissions rather than make this button useless for everyone except those with workspace level permissions.
- Extending on the point above, another user has already put in a request to be able to change/set locations for whiteboards as well as work with sharing access from the hub which I agree with and voted for.
Thanks for the consideration and I hope these are simple improvements that can help make the feature more useful for all and something the ClickUp team may be able to action swiftly.
Cheers.
