Weekday Recurring Tasks

Jake Vorberg
Have the ability to schedule recurring tasks for just the weekdays (Mon-Fri) as most people will be using project management software at work.
I'm assuming it'd look something like this.
Repeat every...
-Day
-Weekday
-Week
-Month
etc.

Hey everyone! We have resolved this issue in a recent update to ClickUp. Thank you so much for your report, and if there's anything else I can assist you with, please let me know!

Tarun Masani: Hi Tarun. This shouldn't be marked complete. I just submitted the same request yesterday, actually. This isn't the same feature that you have available, as there isn't an option to select a business day based on "date."
Example using the 2nd work day (or business day) of the month:
Every 2nd work day, we want a task to recur.
This is the 2nd actual business day of the month (NOT the 2nd of the month (date) or a day option).
For July 2023, the 2nd business day would be 7/4/2023 (because the 1st and 2nd are Saturday and Sunday, then the 3rd is a Monday, which would be the 1st business day).
For August 2023, the 2nd business day would be 8/2/2023.
For September 2023, the 2nd business day would be 9/4/2023 (because the 2nd and 3rd are Saturday and Sunday, then the 4th is a Monday, which would be the 2nd business day).
Please see my screenshot below for a calendar example of work days/business days of the month.

I'd like to piggy back on this request if possible. Something I found extremely useful in Wrike was the ability to schedule a task based on the number of workdays into a new month. For example, I have to report returns by the 5th workday of each month. If I choose "1st Xday" I could potentially miss that due date (the first Xday could be the 7th day of the month). If I choose 1st or 2nd day of the month, they could both be weekend days, and if I choose 3rd day of the month, I potentially miss out on 2 workdays to start on the task. In Wrike, I set the task to recur on the 2nd workday of each month and it automatically factors in weekends and holidays to schedule the task. That'd be nice.

Yes this is useful - I have requested elsewhere for a yearly specific day for recurrences that would also fall on a week day. For example every last Thursday of January perform an audit report. Tarun Masani

I'm having a problem with this when using a recurring task which has to repeat every 3 days (but only on weekdays). I have selected "Days" (every 3 days) and then only chose Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Now, when I set the first occurrence to Monday (let's say Monday 1 July), the second occurrence will be set to Thursday 4 July, but then the third occurrence will not be on Sunday 7 July (it is skipped because I didn't select Sunday) but instead on Wednesday 10 July, which is again 3 days later but actually is 6 days later -4 weekdays later- than the second occurrence. I would actually want every occurrence 3 workdays later than the previous one, so in this case on Tuesday 9 July.
There seems no easy 'repeat every X workdays' setting currently. Or am I missing something?

Ilja: Hey there, Ilja. Hmm. I see what you're saying here. At this time, the schedule has more importance than the weekdays. For example, this task will only recurr if every 3 days falls on a MTWTF, not every 3 days that are MTWTF. I'll re-open this task here for this feature request.

Hey Jake! You should be able to accomplish this already, by selecting "Week" repeat then choosing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Let me know if that works for you!

Zeb: A "Weekday" option in the select menu would reduce six keystrokes to one (six because Sunday has to be deselected.)

Zeb: If I set a recurring task for every 8 days, selecting only M-F, Clickup skips those two weeks when the due date would have fallen on a Saturday and Sunday. I'd say that's not the same as what Jake Vorberg suggested.
