Watchers should receive notifications for comment threads without following them
Dawn Schuster
[From Support] Right now Watchers will not receive notifications for new threaded comments unless they are a follower of the comment. Make it so Watchers of a task receive notifications for ALL comment types

This is so important, and I'm surprised there hasn't been a reply to this since 2021. Can we at least understand if this is planned? or if it's meant to do this by design?
For now what is the workaround - surely we can't manually add people to every since thread that may be created in comments.

We’re missing out on some important updates which are happening in replies. Most of the time, you cannot tell in advance on which comment a thread may start, and by that time, it’s already too late. Please treat this as a high priority.

Using ClickUp for a customer support system, customers receive automation generated emails, for example about status updates on tasks. Customers can reply to those automated emails and those replies correctly show up in the task as threaded comments. However, because these threads have no watchers, we receive no notification about the customers reply

This is strange. clients are missing comms now. they are watcher on the task, but do not receive notification for @watchers if used it a thread comment. Very confusing.

Important, I miss notifications for comments from clients!

This is important for my team too. We are missing updates from team members that are left in the form of a comment reply and when we ask them about the task, they tell us they replied. It's causing extra back and forth and some lost good will.

I too would like to see this implemented or at least some option to get notified from Threads. We tried to setup a support system so that people would reply in the thread but we had to do it so each new email becomes it's own new comment so that the task owner would be notified

I think this should be like this by default. Maybe consider this a bug? As this is really essential for our email replies to work as intended.

For our workflow at Cyberpuerta, that feature will help on the management of tasks assigned to our team members.
Currently, we lose some tracking when the developer is not tagging us in a new thread + the follower can be defined only after the first comment is added. I receive a notification of a new thread created, but I am not able to follow it if the comments are empty.
That is why I would like the default behavior is that the watchers should be automatically followers of new threaded comments.
"Nice to have", leave this configurable by user account to disable the default behavior.
