Use Formulas/Custom Fields to update Task names
Caroline Ginty
(From Facebook group) I am dynamically trying to update the task name by concatenating other fields, has anyone found a workaround for this? I know I can create another field, but I would like for this to behave like what AirTable does

I would also love to have this. It would help my team see at a glance what a task is related to without having to click deeper into the task description and custom fields to find the information. And it would remove the need to have a team member manually do the work of renaming a bunch of tasks.
I found a partial work around by setting up an automation.. to create a new task but not all of the task custom fields and essential fields are copied over so it's useless for me.

Agreed. This needs to happen. Can do it with ease in Airtable. We also do this in salesforce. We need this for effective search, consistency in naming across specific pipelines, projects, etc. Please prioritize this into your roadmap / planning.

This is long overdue

Indeed I would like to be able to use formulas with text fields on task names. This would be extremely useful to improve CRM features.
Users could fill a first name and last name custom field. This would allow to have the data in separated fields for automated emails for example but still being able to show the concatenate result in the task name.

We can already update a task name when "Create a Subtask" / "Create a task" is selected in an automation, this needs to extend to Updating.
This is especially helpful in forms. When we have various forms for submitting bugs, demo requests, feature requests, etc, our hands are tied with what these tasks are called and they end up having absolutely generic titles, or wildly inaccurate...both needing re-work.
There's multiple requests on this particular subject, surprised this one hasn't gone in the queue. Cmon ClickUp, let's go!!

Updating task name's with automations using custom fields would be very helpful to avoid redundant task names

Or the we need the ability to change the data type of the task name field or be able to adjust the primary field of the list.

Updating task names via automation would be very helpful.

Please make this possible as soon as possible. Thank you
