Turn off start/end dates in calendar view

We would love to be able to turn of the start dates in the calendar view. The start dates are important for time tracking and calculation but in the calendar view we only wanna know when project x is due.

The workaround with a mirror field is clever, but if this ships as scoped you shouldn't need it anymore. The planned behavior is that you can set the start to None and let the existing Due date place tasks on the calendar by itself.
Once that exists, do you think you'd still want the mirror field for anything else?

Planned. This one's coming, and it's simpler than most of you have been asking for: every time-based view is getting a Date Source setting where you pick which date starts a task on the axis and which date ends it. Set the start to None and your tasks stop stretching across the month. They just sit on their due date, where you wanted them.
It's a view setting, not a task edit. Nothing gets cleared, your Start dates stay exactly where they are for scheduling and time tracking, and switching back restores the bars. Every view you already have keeps behaving as it does today until you deliberately change it.
You can also point either end at a custom date field instead, if that's useful. But for the ask in this thread you won't need a custom field at all. Thanks for the patience on this one.

Yes PLEASE! Without this, I'm unable to use calendar view for most of my spaces. It would be amazing to be able toggle off the task stretching between start and end date, toggle off viewing the start (or end!) date all together, and even add custom dates to the calendar view.

Hey Sarah, it's already possible to use custom fields (dates) to layout tasks in calendar view - let me know if that works or where it falls short.

You asked for three things in one breath, and that's exactly how we scoped the feature 🙌 Stop the stretching, hide either end, or map a custom date. One setting, three outcomes.
Curious: if you could only have one, which would you pick? That tells us what to ship first.

I don't know, something important option like this is ignored for-ever. It started in 2022 for this feature and we are still discussing the same in 2025. Very very bad for CLIKCUP? In reality, calendar view is useless, as on date! Can CLICKUP team close this issue on URGENT basis! Once when we tried in 2022, there were many issues. Now came back in 2025, to see if it works, but unfortunately, it is not working now also. Sorry, looks like the issue is there since 2019, not in 2022! OMG! CLIKCUP has tons of patience!

Good news, this is planned and heading into development 🚀 The part you want most is in scope: once it ships, setting the start to None will let Calendar show tasks on their due date only, with no stretched bars.
You've clearly tried to make this work more than once. What did you end up doing instead in the meantime?

Also wanted to view only due dates. I used the following workaround: Created a column "Calendar Date". Created an automation to first populate my existing tasks: When (Scheduled Time), set Custom Field (Calendar Date) > Field From Trigger (Due Date). Then I did a similar automation for whenever I create a new task, so it does it in the future. Hope this helps.

Calendar view is just a worse Gantt chart without the ability to just display the task on the day it's due.

The first post in this thread was from 2019. It would be great to have this feature in 2025. I want to use the calendar to show when a change through our change/feature roadmap will launch. I do not need to see the start - due date. I also don't want to use a custom field as a workaround as due date already exist and it would be silly to create another date field.

No workaround needed once this ships, which I think is your actual point. Setting the start to None will let your existing Due date do the work, with no extra field to create or maintain.

The inability to only show Due Date on a calendar makes our email calendar (where we just want to see when it will be sent) virtually useless.

No idea why this isnt a basic feature when you have 2 different date priorities in list view, but why not in Calendar view. This makes it difficult to see deadlines while still using start date.
