Trigger - Task Updated (aka - If ANYTHING changes)
Maren Fox
If anything on a task changes, this should trigger the automation rule to fire

Any news here? Why there is only a trigger for creating tasks?! You can do a lot more with a trigger when a task is updated and to use conditions with this.

I wouldn't see a need for an automation to trigger whenever
anything
whatsoever changed on a Task. But I do see a need to be able to trigger an automation when anything I'm interested in changes on a Task. So there shouldn't be anything about a Task that could change, but can't be specified as part of a condition to trigger an automation.
Likewise there are attributes of a Task which presently cannot be the subject of an action. I'd like this to be changed. My present biggest nuisance is not being able to set or clear the text in a custom text field.

I think anything means "more options". For me it will be a big point to have the possibility "when status changes to: XY" AND "is assigned to XY" then "change assignee to Z". Because we're having a lot of regular tasks in our agency and for some of them, two team members want to work them in change. So week 1 the task ist assignet to me. I close it and (because or reccuring) it goes back to open with new date. Then I want to hand it over to my colleague. And so on...

Maybe anything but selecting the fields that you want to track together

This would be great. I was looking to trigger an automation when the tag on a task was changed. Realized this functionality doesn’t seem to be available.

But rules would be selective according to the change made, as well as to the task it is applied to, so maybe not quite so noisy?

Would love to understand what typical workflow you anticipate using for something like this? I imagine this automation could get quite noisy!

Zach: To have the ability for clickup to change the task (status or tag for instance), based on something like new comments being added/task updated. This then would mean that you could manage incoming emails into the tasks on a worklist type structure

Zach: My use case is to act as a catchall so when something changes, it gets flagged for review. It would be even better if ClickUp could highlight in some way what was changed. This way it is easier rather than having multiple automations per list or reviewing list after list based on the update date.

Zach: I do not have a use case at hand right now. However I am using Webhooks quite often with ClickUp and Make (If ... happens in ClickUp, then send Webhook with this task to Make).
As automations in ClickUp are limited (e.g. I cannot apply an automation to all tasks in a location where the Webhook is triggered), it would be good to have the ability to send "any" change in ClickUp to Make. I would use ClickUp automation conditions and Make filters to select the tasks that I want to edit.

Zach: Perfect to handle hot/warm/cold situations when using this as a sales CRM. We have zaps/webhooks updating contacts/deals tickets with new info and we'd like to adjust "temperature" when anything is updated (which means there is some new info triggered by the contact)
