We're an agency that bills clients by time. Our clients typically have an upfront contract for say 20hrs/mo.
We'd love a way to have a "bank" hours in ClickUp where time tracked in tasks would automatically deduct from.
eg. It's 7/10, Client A has 18hrs with us at start of day. We work on 4 tasks and track 3hrs that day.
Maybe in Dashboards - there could be a way to get that time tracked deduct from the clients "bank" and show 15hrs remaining at the end of the day. And so on.

Yes – we have such a similar need and we REALLY don't want to integrate another app to do this since that was the whole allure of ClickUp – one app.
- Client has x amount of hours for a time period (3, 6, or 12 months)
- Every time we track hours for something, would love to be able to easily see on a dashboard how many hours they have left for their set time period.

List Time Tracking for Retainers that Resets Every Month

We often work with clients who buy a bank of retainer time. As part of that retainer, there are multiple tasks each month, but all the tasks come out of the same pool of hours. We need a way to track our hours at the list level, while also being able to reset the bank of time each month. Right now, list time tracking is for all the tasks in that list historically. I need to see all the time in one list monthly, and I need to be able to refer back to how many hours and what they were used for.

We'd also really like this.
I can see if as having 'global variables' against a folder/space, that way we can use that as we need.
For some people that could mean having different allowances for different things. E.g, design time 50 hours, project management time 20 hours etc.
So for me, I'd record against a folder in a new global variable 'Purchased Time' 10 hours.
Then in the dashboard I'd be able to use that in a calculation. So I take purchased time - tracked time.

Yes please. I would love this. Having a way that this would be visible from within a list or folder as well, for developers to see how much time they've accrued together toward the retainer per week would leave no guesses as to how much remaining time is available.

I also find the time tracking a bit of pain to report on, unless you have a task for everything on that project.
I track all time spent on clients, whether it's an email (sometimes they can take a good 20 mins to write), admin work etc, there are a plethora of little things that don't need a task in Clickup but should be recorded as time expenditure.
Having tasks in Clickup just to record time spent on an email in your usual day to day Comms would get messy really quickly.
I know you can record time without a task, but it currently doesn't allow you to log it against a client, space, folder or project.
Essentially a catch all the little time-sucks that don't need to be setup as a task, but recorded against a client or project would be super helpful.
I also feel the whole interface is clunky and messy.
Clockify interface and extension do a really nice job of their UI, but I can't push non-task or task related time to Clickup from Clockify in order to use workloads etc

Harvest! we need to have a solid replacement for it. and the reports within Click up need to support this so that we can get reports not only the time spent per day/wee/month etc per space, but per task, per project etc.
Ideally it would be great to see something like what harvest has which is a way to know when we are reaching the allocated budget per client so we know when to stop, bill more, additional retainers etc.

Adding to this, the ability to track time in clickup by job type: admin, design, copy, etc. And the ability for multiple people to track time on task not just the person who closes the task.
