Timed Automations

Create automations that occur after a set period of time. For example, when a status is changed to xx, change the priority to high after 3 days, hours, etc.

Hey all,
Just wanted to let you know that once this request has been fulfilled, we'll be able to tackle this one.
Both are required on a scheduler which we're building and we want to tackle the request with the most impact to the community.
Stay tuned!

Hi Zach,
Thanks for reaching out.
For us it would be to wait X time before action.
Thank you

This would resolve so many work-arounds we had to come up with. Can't wait.

Quick question: If we were able to ship an action like this fairly quickly, would you find it useful for your use case here? It would be a simple "Wait X amount of time before proceeding with other actions"
Holly Prohs
Zach - ClickUp yes! This would be very helpful for our workflow 🌟

Zach - ClickUp YES. Long term would also be great to be able to set conditional routes like if status is to do, wait 5 days, if status is pending, wait 1 day, etc

Zach - ClickUp yes - and it would be much more useful, if it would be possible to use a value of other field to set up how long to wait.

Zach - ClickUp Not really a usefull option, for us.
Timed automations in my opinion should be:
- Trigger an automation on a certain, repetative period, e.g. every Monday @13:00 hrs. Much like a repeat agenda-item in Outlook.
- Trigger an automation when the current date reaches the value of a custom date field

Zach - ClickUp Yes! I hope that there will be "seconds/minutes/hours" in that dropdown too.
We're using webhooks and syncing some task information with an external platform, and sometimes it fails because we can't make an automation "wait" a little.
Thanks!

Zach - ClickUp This would fullfill our needs: If status is changed to X, Then after some time set status to Z.
Arnoud Post
Zach - ClickUp Maybe a small addon where you optionally reevaluate the initial trigger. So should the automation continue if the trigger is still true? In some cases you would like to proceed nonetheless, in other situations you want to wait to see if the trigger is persistent before running the rest of the automation.
And also think about the implications for what data is used with this setting. Reevaluate means the latest info? If not, the initial data?

Zach - ClickUp I do think that this is forward progress, but I agree with the comments made by Arnoud Post. We should be able to assess a condition after the wait time. For example, when a task's status is changed to "In Progress", wait seven days and then see if it is still "In Progress." If yes, add a tag "Stuck"; otherwise, do nothing.

I would really love for their to be a set time trigger that says like... every tuesday at 7am give me a project summary for this project and email it to me and the team. This would be AMAZING to ensure people can prepare for daily / weekly standups.

It looks like this has been asked about for some time now. Some team members get busy and forget to check on tasks; I need a way to set up an automation to remind members that the task hasn't had any activity for x amount of time (no comments or status changes, etc.)
