Tiers/Hierarchy of tags

Hi again guys,
I'd like to request a multi-level set up for tags. Even just a parent - child two-level set up would be great. I think this would add an untold extra dimension to categorizing in ClickUp.
With your focus on Space/Project/list/task/subtask, there is kind of a "forced" need to very granularly categorize tasks when they come into Clickup. My team has been facing a lot of friction do deal with that cognitive effort when creating tasks. Tags on the other hand are very simple, and transcend this hierarchy because you can use them for a simple categorization. For example, a bug comes up and you tag it "hotfix" without the need to figure out not only which project, but which list it belongs too. Tags are so useful that we tend to over-proliferate them at times.
I was evaluating Hive a lot before moving to you guys, and this was the first time I saw this. Simply when adding a tag, you can add a parent tag, and report on both set ups - the parent, or the child.
The flexibility is gained as you would then have the ability to categorize work on a hierarchical basis on multiple dimensions. Currently you can only do this on projects. We've found this challenging as we struggle to define what is a project - does it have an end date, or not? For example, a project "Social marketing" with a list for FB, another for twitter, etc. should not really have a start and end as this goes on forever. But if I had tags that could have hierarchies, I could set this up: parent: Social marketing, child: twitter; child: facebook. Then I can track this work for the life of my company really, as I'll be doing it forever in all likelihood. Projects in this set up could be reserved for work that starts and ends, which is the way a lot of people think of "Projects."
Hoping you guys can get this little fix in place soon as tags in general are a great feature!

I would add that this would be a great feature of custom field as well -- to be able to create a hierarchical taxonomy, whether it's part of tags or a custom field.

Guess this might be merged with https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/organizing-tags-with-tag-groupsfolders ?

I would welcome tag hierarchy very much - as well as some kind or parallel set view that would present the tag breakdown in categories for tasks like in this example: https://observablehq.com/@d3/parallel-sets

Agreed. This is called Hierarchical Taxonomy. IF I choose a child tag THEN all parent and grandparent tags are applied.
This is readily used in all Digital Asset Management (DAM) applications and crucial for filtering and search results.

Support multi-level tags. And child-parent tags linkage (for example: parent tags will be automatically added after adding child tags) Zeb

As I move along in ClickUp and see the progression of Custom Fields, this seems like a bigger and bigger win. Even a 2-level hierarchy, which would allow grouping of tasks on the parent or child level, would be hugely useful.
Thanks guys!

This would be helpful for us, as we have very complex projects that are very dissimilar, so having a way of finding/grouping things that span project structures = :) .

This would work brilliantly for us with contract negotiation as well. Parent: Contract type, child: principal investigator name, child: college department.
