Templates to have an Internal-Only Shareable Link

I’d like to request a feature that allows users to generate an internal-only shareable link for templates within the Workspace. Currently, templates can be shared internally by adjusting permissions, but there is no direct link that can be sent to teammates for quick access—only public links are available, which expose the template outside the Workspace.
Having an internal link (similar to Docs or tasks) would make it much easier to reference templates in chats, tasks, or documentation, and streamline collaboration without compromising security.

Lily Chan this creates an internal link, but it's still also making the template public with a public link, or am I missing something in how this functions?
I understood the original request to mean for the template to remain private, but to have a link for efficiency. Not to turn an internal template into a public template with internal and external links.

Natalie Williams The private link will only work internal to the Workspace. The clip I showed just happened to show a template that was alreadly enabled publicly so that's why you also saw the public link available.
They're separate links, similar to how you have separate private vs public links for tasks or Lists, even when you share them publicly.
Let me know if that clears things up or if you need me to record a separate clip with a template that doesn't have public sharing enabled.

Lily Chan I understand the separate links aspect. What I'm missing is whether creating an internal link also creates a public link. In the video, it looks as though creating an internal link also creates a public link.
So yes, please to a video showing a private template being activated for internal sharing only.

Natalie Williams Creating/copying an internal link won't create a public link. The public sharing toggle has to be enabled in order for a public link to be generated.

It would be helpful to be able to get a URL for templates that can be shared with team members who have access. This would be similar to how private links are available for docs. Ccurrently only a public link is available for templates.

When setting up the "company handbook" it would be helpful to be able to link to specific templates when defining the company's SOPs.
By the way this would be needed for automations as well.

From within a whiteboard or a document or a form, you should be able to link to a template (ie: anything you can find in the template center). If you are documenting process/workflow, it is natural to refer to various templates that you may have established. You may also be collaborating with a team on the development of a template, so linking to them as you would to a task or document is essential. Right now, templates are not an option in documents and whiteboards. You can make a template public and generate a link, but that is not always appropriate.

@clickup Why do you offer public links to templates but not internal private links? This makes no sense. I simply want to create a SOP and embed a private link to a template for this SOP. Permissions issues again clickup

We can have public links to templates, but not private links? We need to share a link to a SOP task, but currently there is no way to do this. I had thought about duplicating a read only task, but this is not possible either. Can we please have both!
