Template version control

Allow users to have control over templates that they've created so that if a template is overridden it can still be accessed.

Version History for Templates

My company utilizes many templates in our Workspace and we are constantly needing to update them so being able to see a version history and restore previous versions of templates would be amazing! We've had a few instances where we accidentally override an existing template and have to set up the template again if we don't have the previous version launched in the workspace already.

Cole Huffman Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. I'll merge your request into the larger feature request for version control in Templates.

When saving a template of a document the user should be able to save over a previously created document template and have it save over previous versions. This would be beneficial for situations where teams are collaborating on creating templates as alterations might occur over time and the history of the template might want to be reviewed.
This would be similar to how Google Docs saves the history of their docs and allows users to flag specific historic saves for future reference.

Just started working with click up and thought I had copied a template and therefore only changed that copy list, it turned out that I had overwritten the template and can't restore it anymore.. which is really a bad job. Please add this feature.

Import/Export for templates

I edited a project and almost overwrote the wrong template with a distracted click. Being able to restore it if I did would be useful.

Last week, I faced an issue while testing the addition of custom fields to a task's details area. After adding the fields, a confirmation prompt with a number appeared. Unaware of the potential consequences, I proceeded, which resulted in all tasks within the space being updated and crucial information being removed. Please develop a method to restore the lost information or revert the template to its previous state without requiring manual re-entry.

This is really needed, we had a issue recently of someone accidentally overwriting an old template we can't restore and now need to start again.

If a template was edited or changed in any way, add the option to restore a previous version of that template, similar to Docs.

This is ESSENTIAL to keep version control under control.
