Switch from tabs for Details, Subtasks, Action Items back to scrolling

I would like to be able to just scroll in task view to see the subtasks and checklist items, like I used to be able to in 2.0. Now I have to click on Subtasks or Action Items to see what's in those areas.

Ivan Villa I do not see this implemented. Is there an upcoming change to the task view layout?
Ivan Villa
Nathan Boyer You will find the option in the task menu to toggle on and off the section tabs
Nathan Boyer
Ivan Villa I see. Can this be set globally rather than per task?
Ivan Villa
Nathan Boyer its global :)

Also, Linked Tasks should be available through scrolling, see https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/add-linked-tasks-to-the-task-details-tab
-> There is no point in treating Subtasks and Linked Tasks differently

I don't necessarily think going back to one big scrolling list is the right move, but other comments here are on the right track.
My personal preference is for subtasks and checklists to both be completely moved to the left sidebar. (Currently subtasks are listed redundantly in two places.) Attachments and custom fields would stay in the center area. Assigned comments would move to a tab or filter in the right sidebar alongside activity, doc links, relationships, etc.
If not the no-tab suggestion above, then each section in a dedicated tab would be better than the arbitrary groupings we currently have.

Agree with much of what has been said by others.
A few issues with the current design and suggestions:
- the concept of subtask and action item are very similar. Is a subtask not something that requires action? Separating them into different tabs seems arbitrary. Intuitively I'd imagine they'd be grouped together, whether or not they are in a tab.
- I don't understand grouping custom fields and attachments under details. Custom fields and attachments are quite different things. I can see a case for having the option to hide/collapse custom fields to avoid clutter, but attachments should be treated differently.
- It's disorienting to not have any indication whether there are attachments on a task if you're on the subtask or action items tabs. Even if attachments are hidden to avoid clutter, there should always at least be a small indicator visible that there are attachments and a quick way to jump to them without having to hunt, click and scroll.

🙏 Yes, please. Hoping this is the same for the Relationship custom fields. Or the relationships in General

Will this be addressed soon, considering we are being forced to only use 3.0 starting in March? Not being able to see everything at a glance will increase so much work time.

I agree. I also would like the option to arrange the order of how the task looks (similar to how we can arrange Home). If you are on the free plan, seeing details and custom fields first is not a good user experience.

I'm unhappy about not being able to see the attachments on a task when I'm viewing Action Items.
So often I'm ticking off checklist items and I have to scroll back to the top, click on Details, scroll back to the bottom, look at an attachement, then scroll back to the top, click on Action Items, scroll to the checklist item, then tick it off as completed. All that just to confirm that something has been completed.
I think a simple solution would be to not hide the Details, Subtask & Action Items buttons when scrolling down, instead lock them in place so we can toggle between them without having to scroll back up all the time.
Or, give us the ability to view attachements no matter which Tab we're in.

Agree. Just came here for this. ClickUp 3.0 is way too complex. Too many button, too many clicks, too much off it all. I loved ClickUp for being able to strip it down to the basics, now its as cluttered as all the other apps.
