Support multi-user pointers during SyncUp screen shares
Franco Cruz
When a user shares their screen in ClickUp, viewers currently cannot place a visible pointer or remote cursor on the presenter’s screen. Add a feature that allows viewers to enable a temporary remote pointer/cursor (or laser pointer) during screen sharing sessions, similar to how Slack enables participants to point and draw attention. The pointer should be visible to all participants and should optionally include a label with the viewer's name or avatar.
Problem / Pain Points
* Presenters need to verbally direct attention to UI elements during demos or reviews, which is less efficient and can lead to miscommunication.
* Viewers cannot quickly indicate specific items on the screen, causing presenters to lose their place or misunderstand feedback.
* Collaboration during live reviews, pair programming, or design critiques is slower and more error-prone without a shared pointing tool.
Proposed Solution
* Add a remote pointer/laser pointer feature for viewers during screen sharing.
* Viewer can toggle their pointer on/off; when on, a colored cursor or laser dot appears on the presenter’s screen for all participants.
* Each viewer’s pointer should use a distinct color and show the viewer’s name or avatar beside the pointer.
* Pointer can be moved with the viewer’s mouse; short animated trail or pulse can improve visibility.
* Presenter can control permissions: allow all viewers, allow specific viewers, or disable remote pointers entirely.
* Include a simple UI control in the screen sharing toolbar to enable/disable the pointer and to request pointer control if needed.
* Allow viewer annotation (temporary drawing or highlighting) with undo and auto-expiration.

Franco Cruz hey, thanks for the idea! We've discussed this internally and scoped the task. There are some technical challenges that we will need to solve to get this done, so it is not in the immediate backlog, but we are thinking how we can move the needle on this!

Alex Lashkov thanks for the quick response! Great to hear the feature is already scoped — hopefully we’ll have it available soon. Do you have an ETA? I don’t want to put you under pressure, but having a timeline would be really helpful!

Franco Cruz it is in early research phase, so cannot give any deadlines here! Hope you understand
