It is inexcusable for these types of issues to still be taking palace this late in the game. After all these years, Clickup should have little things like this mastered by now. 😡

Hey, everyone! We’re excited to share that we’ve created new statuses in Canny to provide more transparency and clarity around the progress of feature requests. We've updated the status of this request to reflect the updated status. The Product Manager will provide updates on this post when they have new details to share!

Well would you look at that ladies and gentlemen. We did it. We got the awesome new "Considering" badge ClickUp made in their new tag campaign for canny so they could make us all feel warm inside. So glad it got added here. Let's see how much further we have to go to get this RIDICULOUS BUG (that couldn't surely be designed this way on purpose) fixed. Gotta be close now right...
Open: We’re collecting feedback to determine if this will be added to the roadmap.
Considering: We're exploring this and evaluating how it fits with our goals.
👇WE ARE HERE 👇
Future: This is on our radar, but we won’t be working on it for a while.
Planned: This is on the roadmap to work on within the next two quarters.
Building Now: Our team is actively working on this!
Beta: It’s almost ready! A limited version may be available for testing and feedback.
Completed: This has been released!
Not On The Roadmap: This isn’t aligned with our current priorities, but we’ll revisit if circumstances change.

Matthew Burt Hey it's not like we're paying for this.
Wait...

Francisco Laferriere Updated my map above for the monumental occasion that I missed in December of this being updated to "Future: This is on our radar, but we won’t be working on it for a while."

It's 2025. Over a year later. As predicted, still not fixed. 🔮 Rewatched my video, at least it made me chuckle.
Raina Ahuja
Matthew Burt: Hey Matthew! My name is Raina and I'm going to be the Product lead for Tasks going forward. Really appreciate the time you put into the video to point out the subtask count UX quirks and apologies for the long wait here. I wanted to check in to see if, as the platform has evolved over the last year and half, there are any remaining inconsistencies you've noted with the UX. Happy to take this to the Tasks team. Thanks!

Raina Ahuja Other than being 4 months away from a 2-year anniversary of this video and it still isn't fixed? Nope not much else to say. Everything else in your system and everyone else on the planet that has notifications in any context anywhere on any platform uses badges to let you know what's left or undone or hasn't been seen or delt with. And yet here you are putting badges on subtasks that tell us the total subtasks that have ever existed... open, pending, completed... who needs to know the difference right? Let's not forget the glaring obvious problem here of the fact that your action items function exactly as they should in the tab right next to subtasks.

Raina Ahuja why do you guys switch out product leads every couple months what the hell is going on over there?! I love clickup but there just seems to be no form of consistency in any part of the organization.

Matthew Burt I agree with you 1000% Clickup has been rolling things out in an incredibly sloppy way for many years now. And although we all love the app (that's why we're here using it) It is very sad to see that they continually neglect their users wasting our time and money for some of the most basic features that really should have just been built correctly from the beginning. Making us vote on every little problem while they go off and waste resources working on things that nobody asked for is incredibly annoying and downright disrespectful to the loyal users that have been paying them for years. I'm really starting to get fed up with all of these half baked tech companies charging us monthly fees to not solve our problems while using us a bait to attract greedy investors who don't give 2 shits about the consumer's needs. They won't fix basic problems like the one you outlined here but they made sure they jumped all over this ridiculous AI trend that has wall street drooling. This needs to stop!!! 😡👎

Frank Filippelli I just want to come on here and say that it is not lost on me that your last name is Filippelli which also ties into Matt's example video with the Office characters...are you related to Karen Filippelli? 🤣
Matthew Burt
Sherry Haines Whoa that's some deep lore. I've watched The Office all the way through multiple times and didn't remember that being her last name. If this wasn't on purpose, that's a crazy coincidence. If it was on purpose, that's impressive commitment. You have to change your name inside ClickUp for it to change here 🤣
And clearly, I put her name in there but didn't even really pay attention as I just copy/pasted most of that lol.

Thank you for calling out the fact that bug reports or feedback get pushed back as 'that's how it's supposed to work'. Boils my p1ss when I hear that after behaviour has changed or or something broke completely.

Fantastic video. Couldn't agree more! What gets me is the amount of work that we - the customers - have to do to get this app working sensibly.
I would add that task links also do this - on the task card right-hand sidebar they show the number of linked tasks even if they're closed which is not helpful - so that's another area where this behaviour needs to be fixed.

Accurate number of open subtasks shown in task view? Yes please :)
