Subfolders
building now

It would be very convenient to have the ability to have subfolders. I use folders for classifying projects. For example, Projects would be a Folder name. 2019 Projects would be a Subfolder name.

Hey everyone! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as I will be joining the Hierarchy team as the Product Manager and we will be working on getting this shipped.
We know—Subfolders have been at the top of your wish list for what feels like forever. Trust us, we hear you (loud and clear) and are equally as excited to get it out to you.
Our engineers are working through the final challenges to ensure subfolders function as expected, without impacting the rest of ClickUp or its performance.
In the meantime, your feedback keeps us honest and fired up, and we’re committed to getting this right. Thanks for sticking with us and keeping the pressure on—we’re building this for you, and we won’t stop until it’s done!
It's nice to meet you all and I look forward to sharing more updates.

I don't think you hear us, like you say in the post on June 16th!
Do you even read this?
It this is the most important feature for your customers, should you not at least give us a monthly update? An ETA? Anything?
I don't need more AI features (like everybody else does not need them, see below). We need SUBFOLDERS...
To everyone: please make yourself heard and mention Vincent Varghese in your comments, maybe we get at least an honest timeline when the notification count goes up
P.S.: sorry, Vincent Varghese, but you guys don't listen, and don't answer.
P.P.S.: reconsidering Teams

Peter Jansen YYes man, super frustrating… Even crappy tools like Notion and Monday.com have subfolders, what’s up with Vincent Varghese??? Wake up!!!

Vincent Varghese why so long without any updates?

Hi,
- Agreed on the user fuzz in comments - strange product decision that this basic feature request/functionality is still not in place 6 years after initial request - but the product team is in the meantime releasing custom emojis which I'll probably never use.
- Hope you also take into consideration the potential impact on custom fields once this is going live - for which locations cannot be edited without upgraded licenses.
Thanks!

Vincent Varghese ClickUp has been around for 8+ years. You may know "Subfolders have been at the top of (our) wish list for what feels like forever" but I'm not sure actions have been taken that say that ClickUp cares. This is beyond infuriating. Over 11,200 people have voted on this bread-and-butter feature at this point. I'm blown away. Perhaps it would be good to pause the Everything-Needs-To-Be-AI (it doesn't) roadmap and work on fixing some of the more Bread-And-Butter features (i.e., the reasons people joined ClickUp in the first place). No one joined ClickUp for all the "amazing", "The Future Is Now" AI stuff. Non-implemented features like this (as well as making the Gantt charts less terrible) are boggling to my mind that they haven't been done yet. Who prioritizes your backlogs? Does anyone listen to the actual customers? NO ONE is wishing for more AI stuff. They want things like this (logged in 2019!!!!!) to be fixed (and at this point, I would classify this as a bug... not a feature)! Also, if you want customers to feel better about this, giving an ETA (quarters would be fine) for some of these features sure would be respectful to your clients and make them feel heard. I see a pattern in how ClickUp says very little about this. Maybe it would be good to stop ignoring our pleas for reasonable timelines. What do you think?

I agree, enough with the new AI features. ClickUp isn't providing the basics for its customers. Well said, Shane Taylor, ClickUp needs to stop developing new AI features and focus its efforts on what its customers, for the most part, see as valuable.
Or, Vincent Varghese, simply state outright that ClickUp won't implement this feature, and that's it. This will alleviate customer expectations and anxieties.

I'll be back here in 2026 and this will still be here, just like the past 7 years. Wanna bet? Vincent Varghese

I'm here for the 5000th time to see if this is ever coming. Do we have a projected launch date before I wait to create new stuff?

We need this so much!!!

As a paying customer of multiple workspaces since 2020, I'm curious about
❓How is it possible that a project management software company can't provide project timelines or regular progress updates?
(on projects that are allegedly "building now")
> 2019 September - Subfolders (all-time HIGHEST VALUE/VOTED)
> 2018 June - SORT tasks in list view by status in order
Most PM software users would call these ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS from the beginning, rather than nice-to-have features.
I'm living on the fumes of hope since the newly updated "building now" status starts with a "B" and since list view only sorts status in alphabetical order, it's now on top of the SORT in list view and may now get done before we are all another 6-7 years older.
❗️It's been 3 months (another quarter of a year) since the last update pinned by Vincent Varghese

I NEED subfolders, that would be great and highly useful.
