Statuses by task type
Ivan Villa
Problem:
Often within a single list, we have different types of tasks: some represent projects, designs, and smaller action items. Each one should go through their own set of statuses, but this is currently not possible.
We are forced to either use dropdown custom fields as a workaround or create large status sets to try and encompass everything, leading to confusion among people.
Ask:
- Give the ability for statuses to be set by type.
- This will allow each task type to have its own status workflow.

This is the first use for Task Type that will actually make sense.
If we use Task Type in an Object Oriented thinking, than the status usually are mapping of the actions that can be done on them.
If I am creating a Task Type for Vulnerability and it has statuses which make sense for vulnerability. The subtasks created for processing and mitigating this vulnerability are just of Task Type "Task" and have simpler statuses.
This will be incredible. It will give ClickUp many more use cases.

Ivan Villa: I see these 2 requests are currently planned:
Is there any chance either of those will unblock this request? I see this as a major limiting factor to my company's success with ClickUp.

Seriously needed - My team is clamoring for this and extremely critical of the platform for its inability to do this. Creating custom fields for this should not be the solution.

Badly needed. My team wants to go back to Jira because of this.

Is it on a roadmap? Struggling with epics, user stories, tasks and subtasks and same statuses available to each. There is always someone who will set the status that they should not...
