Sprints ClickApp Improvements
Jake Spirek
First off, LOVE that you have created true Sprints functionality!
Some initial thoughts after setting it up for the first time:
1. Fields in views to show sprints
- Would be veryhelpful (essential?) to have a field that can show in lists to show what sprint(s) a task lives in (when using with Multiple Lists turned on) so that I could have a project/backlog list and see at a glance what sprint each task lives in.UPDATE: I guess I can just do this by showing Lists in the view. I still think a Sprints-specific view would be helpful because when you are in the "home list", you already know it's in that list, but you are specifically looking to see what Sprint it lives in, so then you have make the field super long to see the Sprint, since it shows the home list first.
2. Handling multiple lists / home lists
- It'd be amazing if, when dragging items from an existing list to a sprint list, there'd be an option to default to adding to listas opposed to moving from the home list. I'd think that most people working from "home" lists in projects would want to just drag and drop items from those lists into future sprints. Obviously this can be done with the Multitask toolbar, but for people who are less of a Clickup geek than me, they definitely prefer drag and drop.
- Another solution could be that when you drag a task on top of a list, you could have two drop areas that are maybe color-coded and/or with icons that show "Add to list" or "Move to list" so it's clear what you're about to do.
3. Past sprint organization
- This one might be easy just a matter of archiving past sprints, but as we complete more sprints, I'll obviously want to declutter my sprints folder. Previously, we were using a Past Sprints folder so it was still quick to get to, but I suppose I could archive past sprints. Would be helpful to explore some options to make it a little more user-friendly than archiving, because finding archived lists is not the most straightforward thing unless you know what you're doing.
4. Make a way to bookmark/favorite the current sprint
- I use the Favorites list a ton (pinned across the top of the screen) and would love to be able to have a shortcut to get to the current sprint with one click. It's not the end of the world if I have to make a new favorite every couple weeks, but I also create bookmarks to take me directly to certain lists, so would be nice if there was a way to have a dynamic bookmark to the current sprint. I know that might be difficult, so a decent compromise would be the request in #5. 🙂
5. Make a filter for Sprint or Current Sprint
- Somewhat related to #4: If I create a view at the Folder level, I'd lovea Filter that I could set to a specific sprint, but at the bare minimum, a Current Sprint option in that filter.
- This could be similar to the Location filter, but a dynamic option called Current Sprintunder the Sprint Folder that you choose.
- This would also be very handy with the Calculation widget so you could select the Current Sprint just one time instead of having to manually edit every sprint.
6. Make it easy to set sprint view defaults (specifically for sprints)
- Yes, I know I can load a template for each view, but I don't want to have to do that for each of the views we use each sprint.
- If I could save all the views as a template in a sprint, then I could at least load those views in each sprint. But definitely would be nice to just set a default set of views that apply to all your sprints.
7. Automations: send to current sprint
- There are certain tasks that come in that via integrations/automations that are urgent, and would be nice if there was a way to tell an automation to send a task to the current sprint of a sprints folder. Probably a bit specific to our workflow, but I could see it being helpful for others too.
Again, thanks for this huge improvement! Stoked to spend less time doing sprint list/folder maintenance!

Hi Sprint users! We are working on refining the calculations for Sprint burndown/burnup cards and need your help on a few corner cases. Could you please take this 2-min survey to help us out? Thank you!

Lily Chan, submitted! Thanks for taking this initiative. Sprint calculations remain a bit confusing for us, so I think this is needed.

default sprint list views would definately be required for our setup

We would like to be able to add elements to specific sprint templates. We use time estimates in addition to sprint estimates, and would like to be able to include that field in the auto-generated sprints. We'd also like to be able to add the sprint point and time estimate sums added automatically.

Great points, it would be nice if the ClickUp team took them into consideration!

2.5 years...still no filters for sprints

All that Jake has proposed, and much more visualization of the sprints project completion and Metrics used. Would like see few more leading metrics. Our POs have to do manual calculation to provide estimated completion. Histograms, Simple conditional formatting on the Calculation widgets (similar done for Overdues in task for portfolio widget). I have re-purposed several widget to get overview and analysis done for multiple teams. But come with a lot of manual effort.

I advocate for the ability to sort or filter by sprints!

Is there any progress on this? Jakes points are all exactly on point for anyone trying to implement agile methodologies and not having to find workarounds for basic things you'd expect to have. As much as I hate Jira for many reasons, these are some of the issues I don't seem to have had in Jira.

Merged in a post:
Ability to sort or filter by sprint

In List views, it is not possible to sort or filter by by Sprint.

Nick Potok: if we're already signed up on User Testing, is there another way to join this one? Or would it have showed on Available Tests? I'm guessing the spots just filled up quickly.
