Sorting by Custom Fields on Board View
Mark W
I would love to be able to sort a specific column by custom field in Board view and/or List view.

It's insane that this isn't a feature... I thought it was, and was using it for a while, but it seems to have disappeared

This is so important! We need to be able to use custom fields for sorting or they and the board lose meaning.

Agreed! I like how I can drag and drop columns in Trello, Asana and Notion, but find it very frustrating that I can't do it in ClickUp. I actually left ClickUp for that reason..... The workaround I have found is to rename my sort field with numbers at the beginning. Not as convenient as drag and drop, but at least I have have the columns in the order I want (I do not want to sort by status, I use for course creation and each column is a module, but sometimes I change the order of my modules)

It is absolutely mad that this has been a feature request for 5.5 years and still not implemented! Basically makes the Board/kanban view unusable for me.

How is this not a thing already?

Andrew Watson this is not at all the same thing. It is just a workaround that does a similar thing. For instance, this option doesn't allow me to choose to prioritise one field for sorting over another or any form of stacked sorting at all.
Theron Lalla's workaround below actually just about accomplishes hasn'twhat we're all looking for, which is even weirder as it seems like ClickUp just hasn't built the GUI for what's already there! Only thing missing is I need to do the whole process over again when wanting to change my sorting.

Really weird, that this isn't existing...

Really important please!!!

I signed up in part because of "search, sort and filter tasks by custom fields". Exciting! Then reality struck. What I had in mind is impossible. Sad...

Odd little workaround for this - If you create your (multi-leveled / custom) sorting in a list view and then duplicate that view as a Board instead of a list, it will retain your custom sorting. Unfortunately it means re-creating your views but it's better than nothing if you really need it. (you may need to refresh to see the changes)

Theron Lallawow, this actually works! How weird! This makes the whole thing even weird as clearly it is possible to have custom field sorting on Boards' they just haven't built a GUI for it yet!
