Sort lists alphabetically automatically
OK
Would love a feature that keeps the "sort alphabetically" feature even after adding new lists to a folder. So that we don't have to choose "sort alphabetically" every time we add a new list :)

As of now, ClickUp does not have a feature to automatically alphabetize lists within a folder; you can only manually reorder lists by dragging and dropping them within the folder settings. This would apply to folders within a workspace as well. It would be a nice simplifying feature to have and lessen manual work.

Thanks for the feedback here everyone!
I'm merging the request to be able to do the same for folders as well since it's fundamentally the same functionality just applied to two different levels of the hierarchy.
Want to capture and represent the total votes/requests for it together!

Automatically Sort Folders Alphabetically

While I appreciate that there's an option to sort folders A-Z, it would be great if we could set it to be automatic. It drives me crazy to see new projects in our list and there's one or more at the bottom because the PM forgot to go through the process of reordering.
Can we just have a toggle ON/OFF for the feature? So that when a folder is added it automatically falls into the proper order?

Each time we add a new project, which is quite frequent, we have to re-sort the list.
As this is a 'Space setting', having selected the A to Z option, I would expect it to apply everytime I or anyone using this workspace navigates to it.
I would expect to have the ability for it to either auto-sort A to Z, or manual, (or Z to A may also be helpful as mentioned below) but I would expect this to apply on-going.
This currently seems less of a 'setting' and more of a one-off action.
Not the highest priority, but a definite and repeated annoyance.

This is one of my top pet peeves with clickup - it's such a chore having to manually sort everytime we add a folder or list

- It's useful to follow this design principle: Let users (de)activate a feature!
- It's useful to link such a conversation to a description of how ClickUp is working:
- I'd rather communicate, vote, and read instructions in ClickUp than in these other programs.

New reason: Canny seem not as canny as to figure out automatic numbering.

I agree, this is a simple yet essential and much needed feature. We rely on alphabetical sorting for our main space folder and frequently add new folders to it, making it a chore to manually sort it all the time – an action that is also easy to overlook.
This creates confusion for users when folders aren't found where they are expected to be alphabetically, easily leading to duplicate folders.
It seems it shouldn't be too complex to implement a toggle, like previously suggested, to run the sorting function after each time an item is added?

I also really would love this feature!

Yes, this would be extremely helpful! I would love to be able to turn on a toggle button for when I want lists in a folder sorted alphabetically!
