In List view, I should be able to sort asc/desc or filter by the value of custom calculated formula type custom field and at the same time I should be able to filter the tasks based on the interval that I gave for calculated formula type custom field.

Can we get an update on when this can be fully implemented, with functionality that include grouping on custom formula fields etc.?
It's quite ambiguous to set this as "Complete" when arguably the most useful part is not included in the functionality of this feature.

So I'm a bit confused... how is this considered to be complete when we " can only group tasks by Formula Fields that output dates, booleans, or a mix of dates and booleans."
My biggest pet peeve with group by date in the first place is that I can't actually group by the DATE. "Future", "Today" etc is no where near granular enough and so that leaves formulas. (I'll drop my use case below) but I still can't group by it b/c if the formula outputs a date it still uses that same layout!
When will group by be fixed to work properly with numeric outputs if not strings??
--Use Case---
In many of my lists I need the ability to have organization of tasks by the month or week they are due. Manual labeling with dropdown fields (+ a formula field for week calculations in that situation) is currently the only way for me to do this and it's very frustrating
Tyler
Super excited this is finally here!
Another post was created for the use of dynamic dates with these features, and you can vote on that here: https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/grouping-sorting-and-filtering-by-formulas-that-use-dynamic-dates
Lenny E
Tyler Will this also include grouping by variable numbers such as WEEKNUM(field("Due date")), or is that considered a different feature? If not please consider merging it with "Group by Number (& Formula) Custom Fields": https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/group-by-number-formula-custom-fields
Tyler
Lenny E thanks for the comment!
Though it included "grouping" in the title, the post I linked is primarily about the inclusion of dynamic fields, of which your included variable is a perfect example!
This would be similar/parallel to the request you posted related to grouping by formulas, but it'll be good to keep them separate since the completion of one won't necessarily mean the other is completed as well.
I posted the link you included in the post I included so that people will be encouraged to vote on both! ✅

Tyler understood, much appreciated!

Why can we not use this with formulas that contain TODAY() ?
J
Janassruti V
Chris Stevenson The Support mentioned that this is a dynamic field. This is also on the ClickUp Formula field description in the function box where it says it is not applicable in Grouping, Filtering, etc. This is a release half done for only simple formulas. I still have the function formulas that do not work in Filter/Sort/Group
Chris Stevenson
Janassruti V got it. Man. Wish they'd just fully finish this. It feels like a key feature that's missing.

I'm seeing the sorting by formula field working correctly in a table view, but not in any of the list views... Is this a bug?

Howard Holt: I am seeing this same issue.

Thank you Caroline Ginty, this functionality is super useful!

Caroline Ginty: Thank you, Caroline. I am able to sort and filter by a formula custom field, but the field doesn't appear as an option in the grouping menu... Is this a bug, or maybe I am doing something worng?
Leo Bastian
Caroline Ginty: Sadly the bug CLK-459925 from beta still exists, so kind of unusable for my company :(
Caroline Ginty
Manuel Oriol: You are likely trying to group by a formula that is outputting numbers (or strings). In line with our grouping capabilities for other fields, we do not (yet) support grouping by numbers, only Formulas that output dates or booleans. You can upvote this feature request to support grouping by numbers: https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/group-by-number-formula-custom-fields Thanks!
Caroline Ginty
Leo Bastian: This bug will be fixed with next week's release! Stay tuned :)
Pete Tashkoff
Manuel Oriol: Workaround: If you needed to group by a numerically outputted custom field you could create a series of filtered views, each representing a group you needed to see.
Leo Bastian
Caroline Ginty still staying tuned ...

Leo Bastian This passed QA testing but missed this week's release train - apologies for the delay but it'll be fixed for you next week!

Hi everyone! I'm excited to share that we have officially started rolling out our new Formulas capabilities (Column Calculations, Group, Sort, & Filter with Formula fields) for all Workspaces. Thank you to all our beta testers who provided feedback throughout - we are thrilled to get this into everyone's hands! We'll be incrementally releasing to additional Workspaces throughout this week (currently at 20%), and I will close out this request once it's 100% released. We look forward to hearing your feedback!
Dan King
Caroline Ginty: Awesome! Will we be able to calculate calculation fields? I.e. We use this for receivables. Currently we have Contract Amount and Amount Received, and a Calculation field for Remaining Due (Contract Amount - Amount Received). We would like to be able to sum "Remaining Due" in our dashboard and in the grid view.
Lenny E
Caroline Ginty: Is this link: [ https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/group-by-number-formula-custom-fields ] the official follow-up feature request to track progress on grouping values other than just output dates, booleans, or a mix of dates and booleans? For example using something like "WEEKNUM(field("Due date"))"?
Caroline Ginty
Lenny E: Yes that's the one!
Caroline Ginty
Hi everyone - thank you to everyone who signed up for the beta and provided feedback! At this time, beta signups are closed. If you previously requested access up through mid December and have not received it, there was a bug impacting a small percentage of Workspaces that prevented rolling out the feature. That has now been fixed, and we plan to start the full release of our Formulas 3.0 capabilities within the next +/- week. I'll update here if we have to push that back for any reason. Thanks again for all your feedback - our team is thrilled to get this in your hands!
Will Helliwell
Caroline Ginty: Can't wait for this! Have a client who is trying to be notified about following up on a task after x months. While formulas still can't be used in automations, it'll be great to be able to create a filtered view.
Caroline Ginty
Added an additional ~200 Workspaces today! Thanks for your patience as we continue to roll out access to the beta!
Mario Rader
Caroline Ginty: looking forward to getting access too … hint hint ;)
Caroline Ginty
Mario Rader: Please fill out the form if you haven't already! I'll be giving additional access today.
Mario Rader
Nevermind ;)
Mario Rader
Caroline Ginty: Thanks – all taken care of!
Lenny E
Caroline Ginty: How long is it expected to say "Loading – check back soon"? We've been stuck with that message for about a day now (tried clearing cache, changing browsers – all that good stuff).
Brett Palmer
Caroline Ginty: I love the formula column and now I want to be able to sort the grid based on the value generated in the formula column but cannot do it.
Caroline Ginty
Lenny E: Will you send me an email with your WS id and the name of the field? Want to look into this for you! cginty@clickup.com Thanks!
Caroline Ginty
Can you send me an email or DM with more info on what you're seeing? The WS id, field name(s), etc. Thanks! Definitely want to look into this; it sounds like Formulas are getting stuck calculating in a few places and we want to make sure that doesn't happen.
Caroline Ginty
Brett Palmer: Can you elaborate? I'm not sure I follow! We've also added sorting by Formula fields as part of this effort - is that what you're looking for?
Brett Palmer
Caroline Ginty: Yes exactly. That is my request (the ability to sort via formula fields). I do not think it is currently possible. Or if it is, I do not know how to do it.
Caroline Ginty
Brett Palmer: You should see the option in the list header (same as other fields that support sorting) if you are part of the beta. You can also send me an email at cginty@clickup.com to troubleshoot if you are not seeing that option.
Perry Wirth
Caroline Ginty: Should I be able to group by formula now? I can sort, but not group
ned
Caroline Ginty: will there be another beta roll-out? I filled out the form mid December
Caroline Ginty
Perry Wirth: Grouping is supported for Formulas that return dates, booleans, or a mix of dates and booleans. We don't yet support grouping by formulas that return numbers or strings (same as how you can't currently group by regular Number or Text Custom Fields). Feel free to create a separate Canny request for this - it's something we hope to bring into dev soon, but don't have a timeline on at the moment.
Caroline Ginty
ned: I just checked your Workspace, and it looks like you were given access on Dec 19. Feel free to reach out to me directly cginty@clickup.com if you're still having trouble and I can help look into it!
