Slash command to paste Todays date as plain text

Like for timestamping SOP/document udpates, by typing "/today", the date will automatically autopopulate (but not change - it's static text)

Yes, another big vote for this! Coming from Notion, I really miss this feature.

This is so common in other products like Notion and Paper. You can use it in templates as well, for example
@today
will replace that with today's date whenever the template is used.Was really surprised when this wasn't available.

This would be SO helpful when making notes and updates in team tasks when something was done. How often do we put a note of when somebody did work on an item before the task is closed? Sure, people can look more carefully at what the date of a comment is in ClickUp, but what about the leaders that are consuming updates via email or notification? Even people reading in the app often don't pay attention to the comment's date.

When typing //+Enter in the Confluence page, you will get today's date immediately.
Please implement a similar Slash command to toggle the Today date/Current date for DOC and Long Text field in ClickUp as well https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/long-text-field-with-rich-text-format
As you can see in my example in the screenshot below, in ClickUp we can for instant type /Today+Enter, then the system will display November 21st 2019.

I've been using text expanders (browser extensions) for this - like https://www.getmagical.com and have been going on about this for a long time - with tickets closed. It's fallen on deaf ears.
For me with magical (free) you can use custom inserts with short keys.
In my case i just setup a insert of "//dd" and entry is done.

Ron Barry: Great suggestion Thank you!

I came from OneNote and there you can also add the actual time/date with rightclick. I miss that feature so much in clickup! command /today or /now that brings the date/time as a static string would be awesome.
However be mindful with the date format. It should be taken it from the regional setting. MDY is only used in USA, the rest of the world uses DMY ;) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_format_by_country)

Jens Burkhardt: same.

Jens Burkhardt: Great design clarifications Jens. Now if only ClickUp would hire more engineers to get things done faster.

In Notion, you can type @today and it auto-populates it to today's date as a text. You can also type @now and it will auto-populate the date and time. This is very useful for meetings and timestamping.
Here's how I remember it looks like:
@today auto-populates as "9/10/2021"
@now auto-populates as "9/10/2021 2:50 PM"
It would be so awesome if we had that feature here on ClickUp.
