Show subtasks when filters are applied and subtasks aren't set to "As separate tasks"
Steve Filby
When we're trying to make views that are specific and useful for a particular group of users (in the example artists) we can't use our project, which is a big template created in chronological order of the tasks that need to be completed to, display subtasks when they are displayed as "expanded".
The only way to make them appear is to display subtasks as separate tasks, but that completely breaks our project view and makes it much less interesting for the project manager and the users.
In the images below you can see our set up with two of the tasks displaying all of their subtasks in the "expanded" display mode. Then you can see what happens when I apply a filter, they all disappear.
In the third image you can see the same view with the Subtasks displayed as separate tasks, but it's less useful as you no longer see the hierarchy of the tasks.

I also need this. Hopefully, it will be upgraded soon.

This is really needed!

I've been having this issue as well, I did just find a workaround that works for my needs: If you use the Gantt View and apply the filter, it will keep the hierarchy and only show desired tasks using a filter.
Michał Czaicki
We critically need to be able to add filter criteria to tasks and subtasks separately for a view.
i.e.
view: expanded
tasks: task type = project
subtasks: month = previous month or this month
Our project mapping, and entire Clickup architecture would work 10x better if we would be able to do it. Now we have to do crazy things to go around it, and it's still unconvinient for people.

Michał Czaicki Exactly, perfectly said!

This kinda makes the filter feature basically not work for my company I just figured out after hours of trying different views, combinations,...
Why has this not been fixed yet?
On the ClickUp roadmap in the "In Progress"status, there are multiple features with less than 100 and some even less than 10 upvotes...
Mike DeGeus
This is a pretty basic feature which seems like an oversight. How has this still not been addressed after 5 years??

Ranked slightly higher on the Feature List is a request to "Show subtasks (hierarchically) under parents in Table view. I bet people will howl when they discover that adding the feature will probably make it just like the list feature and remove the ability to search/filter on those tasks.
Guy Mannerings
Can't remember if I posted this before, but, in the same regard, the search box on List view (in the top-right) should also have an option to include subtasks that are
not
shown separately.Right now, it will not show subtasks that do match the search term unless they are shown as separate tasks.

Guy Mannerings That issue can be found in the link below (Although its hopelessly low on the feature list). I don't understand the logic of having subtasks look and act like tasks in every way except for filters/search.
Guy Mannerings
Robert Sando Thanks. All it needs is a simple toggle of "apply filter/search to subtasks".

Guy Mannerings Agreed. Thanks for the reply.
