Show status progress icons in the Subtasks sidebar (same as in List view)
Nikolai Kosenok
Hi ClickUp team,
We use a custom SDLC workflow with several statuses in the "Active" group (e.g. In Progress → Code Review → Testing → Ready for Release). In List view, each task's status icon reflects how far along the workflow it is: the circle is partially filled depending on the status position, so you can see progress at a glance.
However, the Subtasks sidebar in the task view shows the same generic icon for every active status. As a result, all subtasks look identical there, and it's impossible to tell which ones are just started and which are almost done without opening each one or switching to List view.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a task with nested subtasks that are in different active statuses.
- Compare the status icons in the Subtasks sidebar (left) and in the Subtasks list inside the task (right).
Expected: the sidebar shows the same progress-style status icons as List view.
Actual: the sidebar shows one identical icon for all active statuses (see the attached screenshot, highlighted in red).
Why it matters: for epics with many milestones and subtasks, the sidebar is the main navigation panel. Seeing SDLC progress there would let us track an epic's state without switching views.
Ideally this would be enabled by default, or at least available as a sidebar display option.
Thanks!
