Show Parent Task Names on Notifications for Subtasks
Destiny Pidgeon
The new inbox doesn't show the parent task name on the main view (important/other) when a notification is for a subtask. (Old notifications did.) You can get to it by clicking into the notification, but it would be preferred to have that at-a-glance insight.
We often put the client name on the parent task and don't put it on the subtasks to avoid redundancy. (Also because of template limitations.) So a person can be assigned several tasks named the same thing. It would be really nice to be able to see parent task name in the main view.

Option for subtasks to inherit task names when a template is applied
Hannah Nurse
It would be great to have the option that when creating templates, for subtasks to inherit the parent task name, this is because currently notifications are not descriptive enough to ensure the user knows which subtask the parent task (project) belongs to.

Useless. This issue is over 2 years old and still no solution.

Hannah Nurse Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! Can you tell me a little bit more about your FR?
For example, would you expect the subtask name to be prefixed with the parent task name? Or is it more about just having more context in the notification to show the parent task?
Hannah Nurse
Hey Lily Chan, We find the notifications often lack the visibility needed to know which project the subtask is coming from so, we tend to start every subtask with the name of the parent task to tie it all together. For example: Task name: Company XYZ Subtasks Company XYZ - Editorial, Company XYZ Client Contact etc etc. You can do this with automations but you cannot do this from a template forming perspective. It would be great if you had some sort of 'merge tag' so you can populate the template subtasks with the Taskname and subtask name for more seamless notification and to be able to tie up projects easier in the inbox nonfiction menu and email notifications

Hannah Nurse: I see. It sounds like the core of the problem is that the notifications don't provide enough information (e.g. in the breadcrumbs) to be able to easily differentiate which projects subtasks correspond to. I think your request would best align with this existing Feature Request that has a lot of votes, so I'll merge it there: https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/show-parent-task-names-on-notifications-for-subtasks

YES this is SO frustrating that you can not see the parent task in the inbox/home screen. PLEASE make this happen!!!

Yes, this is applicable for us as well, especially for email notifications

In addition, name of parent tasks all the way to the list should be available when clicking on a subtask or viewing the notification.

Agreed. This would be very useful!

+1. It's quite important to see a parent task title in Inbox/Notification (without extra actions). And it's easy to implement I guess.
Holly Jacobs
Yes, this is a huge waste of time having to click into the task to figure out what client the subtask is for.
Maddie Kranda
Agreed! This creates a lot of extra work.
