Show only milestones in Ganttt
closed
Drag Ivko
Currently it's impossible to create a gantt chart based on milestones only. Despite applying 'milestone's filter, lot of white space persists with list names project names etc.
We need an option to show a condensed milestones gantt view that would show only milestone names and not the names of list/folders they belong to.

Since this request is closed due the misunderstanding by admin, I reopened one: https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/option-to-hide-folders-and-lists-in-gantt-chart-view

This is already in ClickUp! Navigate to a Gantt view and filter for tasks that are marked as Milestones!

Brendan W: I think the majority of this feature request wants a milestone plan where we can hide the lists and folders. please reopen the request

Lukas Moser: Last week we released an awesome space saving enhancement to Gantt view and the Gantt sidebar! Our Gantt team has a lot more in the works regarding UI updates which will help out here. In the meantime, I would recommend filtering by location if you'd like to hide Lists and Folders too!
Lukas Moser
Brendan W: Thanks for your answer. I appreciate this enhancement on the gantt view, but this request here is definetly not already available. The thing is we want to only show the milestones without the list and folder where they're in. This has nothing to do with filtering.
Brendan W
Lukas Moser: I'll bring up the feedback with our Gantt team but the Folder and List are there to provide context as to the location. In the future, implementing a Group by none option would solve your concerns here too!
Lukas Moser
Brendan W: group by none would definitly be amazing.
Brendan W
Lukas Moser: Indeed!

On further thinking, I think Gantts should be able to show Goals plus their relevant tasks and milestones. It could look something like this.
It is very simple, filtering out everything that is not a goal, a task relevant to that goal (or sub-task) or milestone.
This would make goals far easier to use, and much more effective.
PS I made another post which is quite similar. On second thoughts, it might be useful if someone can merge the votes to this one, unless the idea of a completely new view is useful. - https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/new-goals-and-milestones-view

I am basically after something like this. This is taken from Nifty. It's so much cleaner, you can clearly see very specific milestones or tasks.
ClickUp's Gantt is so messy, because you are forced to see everything.
If I only want to show one task in the Gantt view, I also have to see every other task in that folder, and then I also get the Gantt bar for the folder itself and the space. It's just too much information I don't need.

Hide lists and folders in gantt view would solve the problem and even add more capabilities combined with the nested subtask app coming soon. Ivan Villa

Lukas Moser: Hey Lukas! Yea that sounds like a solution we could take. Will add it to our notes for the nxt update we do here.
Lukas Moser
Ivan Villa: any news on this one?
Ivan Villa
Lukas Moser: Hey Lukas! No update yet. We did dive in a bit but ran into some tricky scenarios. We will keep you posted if we get some progress on this one. Thanks for checking in!

Hey Drag! Would the timeline feature work for you? We released it with the intent to allow people to create views they can filter, group and display tasks in many different ways.
Drag Ivko
Ivan Villa:
Unfortunately, it would not as:
- the primary audience for this type of view would be executives and they are used at seeing the things in a certain way
- timeline is too granular for this audience
- you have to hover over a task to see its name
- timeline does not show dependencies
To be honest, i was expecting a different type of a timeline that more entity related (task, list, project, goal) than the resource focused timeline. Don't get me wrong, there is a huge value in this timeline but it is not fit for the executive audience that i am dealing with.

Ivan Villa:
Take a look at all this blank space and I need the condensed view of milestones only
Thanks
