As a project manager, I want holidays reflected on my timeline so that Duration field excludes them just like weekends Juan Grandas lots of great feedback on this other thread too https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/allow-setting-of-ad-hoc-non-working-days-andor-public-holidays -- consideration for both at the user workload level, but also at the project list level with duration & timelines. Much of our work is based on 'business days'

Hey Tiffany Lam,
Thanks for sharing!
Here’s where we are with this
For our upcoming Work Schedules project, you’ll be able to create schedule sets. A set includes:
- The typical workweek (e.g., Mon-Fri, 9-5)
- Exceptions like company holidays or extra workdays (e.g., working on a Saturday)
These will be modular. You can set schedules for the workspace (default) or assign them to specific users. This allows flexibility for company calendars, team schedules, regional differences, or part-time contracts.
Here’s a critical distinction and assumption which I'd love everyone's thoughts on to validate the direction:
- Admins or managers define exceptions (e.g., holidays) tied to contracts.
- PTO is personal, more variable, and set by the individual.
Non-working days from schedules can be excluded automatically from workload planning. However, PTO will just show as an indicator so task planners or resource managers know the user can’t work on those days.
What do you think?

Voting yes for this! Could this be a work around for not letting automations assign on the weekend? If the users were unavailable on the weekend then the task could be assigned the next working day which would be awesomeeeee. This also gives flexibility for different countries and users to have different types of weekends and schedules.

Please make this happen. A large distributed x-func team will benefit from this feature a lot.

Yes agree it would be good to be able to set vacation in Workload.

To allow team members to set their leave or vacation dates and prevent others from assigning tasks on those dates, you can implement a leave management feature in your project management or HR system. Here’s how it can work:
- Leave Management Integration: Integrate or configure a leave/vacation calendar where team members can mark their time off.
- Task Assignment Restrictions: Set up a rule or automation in your system that cross-references the leave calendar. When someone attempts to assign a task to a team member on their leave dates, the system can either: https://www.mcdvoice.site
- Block the assignment, or
- Notify the person assigning the task that the team member is unavailable.

Would this integrate with workload? Game changing!

Anthony Raad do you have an ETA on this Q3 or Q4? Before trying to train 200+ users on a custom workaround. I would like to understand how close this is. To limit the amount of change management needed.
Thank you
Juan Grandas
Hi Ryan MacAlmon, I'm the new Product Manager working on this feature. It's great to meet you.
This feature is a high priority for us in Q4.
We've received substantial feedback from the community to help guide our exploration of potential solutions that integrate third-party calendar data.
I plan to reach out to those who expressed interest in further discussions over the next couple of weeks so that their insight.
Thank you all for your participation.
Please let me know how else I can help.
Ryan MacAlmon
Hi Juan Grandas any update on reaching out to companies for further discussions?
Justine Dechaine
Juan Grandas Can you confirm if the second part of the feature request here (prevent others - or warn others - from assigning tasks on those dates) is going to be part of this solution? That piece is far more important to me than just integrating the calendar data, although viewing that data in Workload views would be great.
Juan Grandas
Ryan MacAlmon:
Thank you for your patience.
Here's where we're at. The team has finished discussing the strategy for resource management and scheduling to make sure we have a clear base to build this functionality on.
We’ve started talking to some customers and will be sharing more surveys and ways to give feedback to the product team in the coming weeks.
Juan Grandas
Justine Dechaine:
We plan to create functionality that lets you specify which days you don't work during your regular workweek, as well as any exceptions to that schedule.
Tasks will not be scheduled on these non-working days, and you'll see clear visual indicators of them across ClickUp.
