We really want to see this feature as well! Adding colors doesn't quite cut it for us. It would be great if there were list status options that could have colors attached to them (like task statuses). We would use these both as visual cues but also in reporting. For instance, it would be extremely helpful to be able to create a high-level dashboard of list statuses so we can track how different projects are progressing.

It would be nice if once a list is marked complete that it would also be removed from a default view, must like how tasks that are completed are.

Most project management platforms force us to define a single ‘status’ for a project or a portfolio — and even ClickUp, for all its flexibility, still lacks proper multi-dimensional project status tracking. Yet real-world projects are more complex than a color label.

After managing and analyzing dozens of projects, I believe we need three distinct layers of project status — each with a different purpose, and ideally supported by automation and human input:

• Open

• In Progress

• In Review

• Closed

• On Track

• At Risk

• Delayed

• Blocked

Ideally, this should be semi-automated based on task data (statuses, due dates, % completion). But here’s the problem: in ClickUp, we don’t yet have native Critical Path support. That means:

• You can’t easily distinguish a delayed critical task from a minor one.

• You risk false alarms or missing real project threats.

• You can’t automate “Project at risk” based on strategic delays.

I believe both statuses could be partially automated through AI.

• client frustration,

• loss of trust,

• communication breakdowns.

This field should be manually set by the PM, and captures the human reality behind the numbers. Examples:

• Stable

• Fragile

• Escalation Expected

• Critical – Management Alert

I'm looking for a way to set a status on a list and see an overview of all lists by status, preferably in board view so we can visualize how a project moves through the pipeline.

I would like this feature too. I'd like to see lists marked differently if all the tasks within it are done.

Yes, yes, yes. My main use would be creating a project (list) in Planning mode so that I can get everything built out, assign tasks, deadlines, add docs, etc. before anyone gets notified about the list. Then change to Current/Live.

Very glad to see this planned. For me lists = projects so to see and filter the status of hundreds of projects I've had to make a task card in each project called 'Project Overview' and then add the overview cards to their own list to see top level project status. This feature would really help avoid this workaround!

+1 I have many many small projects to follow and I use the List as a project. So in order to filter, follow, report between projects (not tasks...) I introduce systematically a «Following» 1st task in my lists. This is not really satisfying, as with a little bit more fields in the List (status but also custom...) it would be more clean, and easy...

Would love having status for List ! Giving the opportunity to set due date to List is great but having that due date during red when you have in fact completed all the tasks from the list is unfair ;-)

I'm using list as a group of tasks inside the same project (project setup, Analysis and Design, etc... are all lists)
