From support ticket: I need to see reporting for how long a task remained in one status before moving to another
Also, could this support how long a task is created to when it is started? Especially the case when the task is created until it leaves the "Not Started" grouping.
This is critical in order to track the duration of a project sitting On Hold in order to show our turnaround performance to a client.
This is a great addition to the newly released Cycle Time and Lead Time features.
However, I'd like to add that it would be great if you could see this within a task itself, not just in the Dashboard for a group of tasks. Further, if we get Lists or Goals that have Status, it would be great to see this within those entities as well.
So if I have a Project that I have a status on such as "In Progress" - that I can trigger once the first task moves to "in progress" itself - I'd like to see how long the Project stayed in that status before it is moved to "done." Ideally vs. a planned length of the project. Very useful to team performance over lengths of time. Could help to see if managers are too ambitious with their anticipated completion times vs. actuals.
Another use in Projects would be if you had a status of "in planning," you could see how long it takes a team to move a project from an idea, to actual execution by tracking how long the project is in the "in planning" status before it moves on to "in progress."
Time in status widgets are on the way!
@Zeb: Is there a way we can have access to cycle time etc. from the API? I'm trying to do a scatter plot of original estimate vs. cycle time for subtasks, but sadly, the API doesn't support history/activity.
@Hasitha Liyanage: We'll release this feature very soon where you can add cycle/lead time as columns in list view. Then we'll be able to add it to the API
I just came to post this and saw this thread. this could actually be a dashboard widget
-This should probably be a ClickApp that can be toggled off or on for a Workspace.
-We could have an option called "status time" that could be found within a task. The status time 'object' logs data about time spent in a status.
-We could then view that data in a dashboard reporting widget.
@Zeb, this might something to look into for teams who want status metrics or who use Kanban in their workflow.
I absolutely agree, would add to it that it would be nice to have this feature integrated into the dashboard system. to show current fulfilment times and where we can optimize our processes.
This would help when trying to look back at our metrics in term of how long each tasks takes and let our management get a quicker view at where our process hang ups are. Would also be nice to be able to view how many days a tasks has sat in each status without any work being done.
