Searchable Custom Fields
planned
Jack Howard
Custom fields are great -- well done :)
We'd love to be able to search based on a custom field's contents.
For example, right now we use custom fields to record a task's job number, which matches our filing system. Would be great if we could search the job number in ClickUp and have that task appear in results.

Great news!
We're planning to add the ability to search custom fields through our new Search feature! On top of that, you'll be able to apply custom fields and narrow down your results at a lightning-fast speed!

Type in task ID to get to that task
Gunnlaugur Þór Briem
Hi. I know the ID of a task, say
CLIENT-304
. I don't know the name. I want to go to the task. How do I do it?I want to just hit G (or whatever) and type in that task ID. Takes milliseconds, done! 😍 But nope, I can't find any “go to task” action or keyboard shortcut. 😕
So I try typing the task ID into the search. But nope, the search doesn't match on task ID. 😮 At least not ranked near the top.
So I try typing the task ID into the filter box in the Everything view. But nope, the filter box can't be made to filter by task ID. 😣
As far as I can tell, there is _no UI_ to get to a task by its ID. I have to remember some part of the name or description and do a search (and wait N seconds because, my friends, that search... 😬), or add the “Custom Task ID” column and sort by it and manually skim down it, as if it's the stone age.
My workaround is to go to some other task in a browser, and replace the task ID in the URL. That workaround doesn't help in the ClickUp app, only in a browser. If I'm on my phone, I'm SOL.
I like ClickUp overall but this omission is astonishing. It jabs at my heart every day. Please fix it. Thanks :)

Search Capabilities

Hi,
Our company runs our development off of "ticket numbers" aka tasks. The search functionality that is within click-up doesn't allow for an easy search via ticket number. It actually doesn't match the number at all. I would recommend adding more in-depth search functionality to your platform.

Custom Task Search

The addition of the Custom Task ID is very helpful to be able to refer someone to. However, this field cannot be filtered or searched on, which makes it less useful than it should be. I have attempted many ways to search and filter on it but have had no success.
Please
add the ability to search on this field, it would be extremely helpful! Or document how it can be searched, if I missed it.Thank you for continuing to improve your product!

OMG! I was testing Clickup when I noticed that I can´t search inside custom fields, I though it was my fault but then I found this thread. I wanted to use Clickup as CRM, but it has no sense if I can´t search inside email, phone number, company and other basic custom fields. I see that there are requests for this feature with more than 1 year. If I can´t search inside custom fields, then this tool is not for us :-(

Wow, I'm shocked that this doesn't already exist! What's the purpose of software vs a good old fashioned filing cabinet if you can't search? After reading through some of the comments, I'm even more surprised that ClickUp does not even seem to acknowledge the existence of this need. How can searching for information, when you are in the information storage business (thus the relationship field for example!), not be a priority? I'd love to see some feedback from someone at Clickup on this topic.

We need this feature really urgent. I cant understand why its not supported already and why there is no official information from the team. We store order/tracking numbers and a lot more in custom fields and cannot search for it.
