Timeline and Gantt view are too tedious, and dragging tasks and zooming in/out is really buggy and time-intensive. It just doesn't work for a strategic or planning roadmap.
Ideally, it is something that is easy, simple, and fast to create.
* Create simple roadmap item
* Drag and snap to week/month/quarter
* Create themes/categories/swim lanes
It should not require creating "real" ticket, however, you should be able to create a relationship to real tickets, so you link to them.
It would be great if linking to a "real" ticket allowed you to track % progress/completion of the item - without causing the roadmap to change.
I was hoping the Portfolio tool would help with this but it doesn't.
Currently, here's what I'm doing
* Creating a "dummy" list with a dummy sprint filled with dummy tickets. I create relationships with real tickets in my real sprint. But it is a lot of extra work to create dummy tickets, especially when you try to lay them out in the timeline or gantt view.

Ivan Villa Ivan Villa could this be re-opened to give us a true roadmap
The timeline view is not a roadmap.
Roadmunk does a good job at this but not much about the daily task. could look into this

Too complicated and too small, we need an basic overview roadmap. Add section, drag slider for time line, add inner tasks

Ivan Villa:
Oh my Lord, this is nowhere close to roadmap!

Ivan Villa: I cannot create a useful roadmap with timeline view. One key reason is that the farthest I can zoom out is 1 year. I want to show how initiatives (1-3 years long scheduled over the next 5 years) and changes in environment fit in my organization's 10-year strategic plan.

Ivan Villa: Can we use the timeline view with a portfolio? Use cases around program planning, program or business unit roadmapping for larger corporate initiatives?
Kennedy Kirk
Ivan Villa: Hi Ivan, I was hoping for something more similar to how you all have implemented Canny here. Something that could be managed in Clickup but could be public-facing so clients can see what is coming in the near future. Is anything like that being considered?

To have a make ClickUp "sticky" tool you'll need to add at least 3 roadmap views; and if possible a drill down feature from the roadmap view.

Would already help if you would allow to put lists and folders on a Gantt Chart without having to define tasks in them

Please we would think this would be a very happy coupling, especially with roadmunk which we are using

Yeh please again want to highlight how making a roadmap view public is really important.

Should be good to have something similar Onroadmap.com

Maybe this could simply be covered by implementing a year view in the calendar view?
Jonathan Dunning
This would also be very beneficial as a means to display publicly. For example, a nice way to display major projects completed, planned, or in progress to outside entities (without them seeing the inner workings of the team).
