Restrict Template edit access
George
It would be nice to control who can and can't edit Templates.
In a larger organization it will be difficult to tell who is making changes.

Ability to customize who can USE templates and who can EDIT templates
Destiny Pidgeon
Right now template permissions are only restricted by who is given access to the template at all. If they have access, then they can update it.
I want the ability to customize who can save and update templates. If I can control who can update them, then I'd be fine with anyone being able to see them and that would be easier to manage as we have staffing changes.

Please please please add the ability to do this. Templates are so important and only admins should have access to adjust them.

We really need this ability in our environment. Users from other departments keep adding custom fields to our existing templates, which imposes an additional memory load when we perform needed API exports. Please let us control who can and cannot edit our templates!

yes, this is a nightmare. people keep changing template names by accident and it is impossible to find out whoi did it and when

Hey, everyone! Thank you for following along on this post and providing your feedback!
To keep everyone informed, we've updated the status of this Canny post to reflect current product initiatives.
This request is still very much on our radar and the ClickUp team will keep this post up to date when we have more to share regarding this feature in the future!

I agree, only admins should be able to make changes or rename the template, but all members need access to use the template.

I recently found the information, subtasks, dependencies, deleted from a rather complex task template I had created. I recreated it, but I also saved a backup copy, shared with just myself. It would be great if there was a way to restrict editing access.

I would like to see this control, but it should include the ability for users to make private templates which they can edit and use as they see fit, but cannot publish to the broader organization unless granted permission. I know that everywhere I've worked I've always had specific activities which are repeated, but irrelevant to the broader team's needs, for which a private template would be useful.

Zeb: This feature is REALLY needed. I'm just have a small team getting started with Clickup and this is already a BIG problem for us. Can you advise WHEN this feature will be available? You have it marked as PLANNED 2 and a half years ago.
Zeb
Lisa Howell: Thanks for bringing this to my attention! While we're currently focused on speed and performance of Clickup, I'll discuss this with the product team!
Ashley Hiebert
Zeb: Hi Zeb, I just started using clickup for my team and this is already a huge problem. Is this still 'planned'?
Sean Kilcullen
Ashley Hiebert: Not at the moment, it is in the OPEN status currently, but I agree on the need for this! Prioritizing it against the higher upvoted Templates canny requests and reliability (bugs) needs.
