Replace Files/Attachments (Proofing)
Rob Hewitt
We've been using the proofing feature since it's come out, and love how easy it is to use. I mentioned in another post some visual glitches, but otherwise it's been really great to use.
After spending more time working with it though, after revisions are made to the PDF, there isn't a way to update it with a new file. We have to attach a new one which becomes confusing to maintain a bunch of version within the task.
So, we've been deleting them—but that also remove the comments attached to the PDF and now we've lost all history of task revision history.
Simply put, we need a way to replace an attachment with a new version and have the comment history remain intact.
That's an immediate need.
This can be taken even further with having a "version history" of each attachment and having comment bound to the "versions." But I recognize that's a much bigger ask and will take more time. So, I'd like to request specifically the "replace file" feature as a short-term/immediate solution and the other as an eventual feature (when you get around to it—not pressing).

This is so necessary! We use Clickup for our creative workflow and because there is no folder structure within the attachments section nor versioning capability, our account team struggles to know which version is most recent (and keep all the comments straight.) Everything just gets lost in the attachments section.
It would also be great to be able to create a multi-stage approval process directly within the document and automatically create rules within that approval process. Example:
Stage 1: Creative Approval - does not move forward to next stage until assignee approves proof and "Approved" is marked in this stage
Stage 2: Client Approval - does not move forward until "Approved" is marked in this stage
Stage 3: Compliance Approval - does not move forward until "Approved" is marked in this stage.
I know there are some workarounds to use to mimic this process, but would be so much easier if just built out natively in the system.

For me viewing 2 files side by side to see comparison and will work. For this, Clickup team can add 3-4 buttons:
- To add updated version (when we click ellipsis on hovering over a file)
- To check file history (just like how we can check it with docs in the same ellipsis as 1.)
- Compare files (side by side opening of 2 different instances of different files which have different zoom options when we open a file and also when we check file history in 2.)
Moreover it would be beneficial if clickup has a trash also for attachments.

Absolute must have feature!

Yes -- this is essential. And makes proofing really chaotic without this.

This is a must for communication so that the correct files are being referenced.

Replacing files tied to version history is an absolute necessity. We work with multiple design and copy elements that can have multiple comments with them. Revisions can get up to 15 -20 versions. Deleting files and uploading new versions is tedious and can cause mismanagement with said files.

Yes, please!

Amen to this, it would eliminate a lot of confusion on my end
