I love all of these suggestions. I would be happy with the reminder linking to the task to start with. Having a reminder that goes nowhere does me no good.

Tasks need reminders to survive, what are tasks without reminders?

some tasks may be due on a certain date but an early reminder ensures it gets done on time.

Currently our users feel that Notifications for tasks are not enough. Being able to receive a reminder at any time that's independent from start and due date would be fantastic

comment from support: I would love to be able to associate [reminders] with a task so I have an in-built way to get a progress update, so it's in my inbox to "check-in".

Thanks for posting my request, @@amy-lee-11. However, to clarify:
- Yes, it would be nice if ## task linking worked in reminders.
- Ideally, though, in many/most cases if a user is looking at the detail of a task and needs to set a reminder, the reminder would be about that task! Therefore what would be most helpful is a Set Reminder For This Task functionality, whether a button, or a variable like "##thistask" as opposed to having to search through dozens or hundreds (in my case!) of tasks when you are looking at the task you want linked to the reminder
- Extra credit: in list view show the little string-tied finger "reminder" icon to indicate that there's a reminder set on the task.
- Extra extra credit: On the task detail view, show reminders in the Subtasks & Checkbox list area of the view, not just in the activity stream pane on the right where there is so much unfilterable "noise".
Use case: An undated task is on the In Progress board. Today while culling your tasks you made a phone call to speak to someone about this undated task. You were told they are out of the office until next Wednesday. You want to set a reminder to call them next Weds. You want the reminder text to show in the task activity so that when you (or anyone else) reviews the task two days from now, you can see that it is indeed in progress but on hold until next Wednesday
