Right now, if I set up a recurrence with the due date being "next occurrence" the task pops up on the date that it is due. I'd prefer to see "next occurence" to mean that it is due the next time. For example, if I have a task on the 3rd Monday Every 3 Months, I want the task that pops up on 15Oct2018 to have a due date of 21Jan2019 rather than 15Oct2018.

Hey there, Amber! It sounds like you might want a task to recurr immediately when it is closed. This way, you can close the task again to have it skip the 15Oct2018 occurrence, and the task will re-open with the next occurrence's due date.

Tarun Masani: Hi Jorgen, That is kind of what I want except that if it still needs to be set to be due on a specific date. It seems like if I set this up with a repeat trigger, it doesn't allow me to set due dates based on actual dates but based on when the new task was created.

Amber Wiltse: Trigger recurring tasks will base their recurrence due date on when the task was closed (or when the trigger fires). I'd recommend using a schedule based recurrence if you would like to have more control over the due dates on recurring tasks.

Tarun Masani: Hello, we do use the schedule based recurrence. The problem is that due date options are too vague for the way that my company would want to use them right now. For example, if I want something to be due the 3rd Monday of every month, I have to set it up to be due on the date that the task pops up on the calendar but I want to be able to have it appear the month before it is due. The option for "next occurrence" is misleading because that means that the due date matches the day the task appears rather than the next occurrence. My company would use Clickup in more departments if next occurrence meant that the due date would be equal to when the task is due to set up next (task appears 05Nov2018 but is due on 03Dec2018-the next occurrence).

I thank you for following up here with more info! We actually did a trail run where we did set the due date to the literal "next occurrence" exactly like how you describe it. However, more users have came to expect the due date to be set to when the task actually recurrs, and we reverted this behavior to what most users expect. We are however considering making this a user option when we work on simplifying recurring tasks.
As a workaround, what you can do is in your advanced recurring settings is to have the task recurr immediately on closed, so your team will always see next month's task in their work queue.

Tarun Masani: Hi Jorgen, Thank you for the suggestion but as I previously indicated doing that would remove the ability to have set due dates because they would change depending upon when the task is closed (or set to any other indicator of making a new occurrence). I would really appreciate it if you keep me in the loop if you do create an option to have either set dates (based on week) for changing due dates or when the option to have the next occurrence as the due date becomes available.
