Overlap Warning
From Customer: If i assign a task to someone for 9am Thursday , and than in another space create a task for same person and same time...tasks will overlap. i can see this only when viewing calendar for all spaces. Possible to give warning that the person is booked for that time or has tasks during that time? So even if i create a task in one space , i will be warned that that individual has something for that time
it will be useful for me for client meetings.., sales team and etc, but also other things when i want a person to go to a meeting but they already have a specific task that they must attend

Gantt View + Dependencies / Enable warning for Tasks/Subtasks Start date conflict ALSO Dates for Subtasks to be in Tasks start and due date Warning
V
Volodymyr Kondariev
As a Project Manager, when I am doing a Project Planning and execution control in Gantt View, once i set up Dependencies between Tasks/Subtasks, I need to be sure that all Dependent tasks should be Started ONLY after completion of Blocking tasks by team members.
Please create some Gantt Tool allowing to Enable warnings for the dependent tasks Start dates and separately Enable warnings for the dependent tasks Due date . In the Gantt View this can be achieved based on concept of Gantt Path.
In the list view - just show start or due date in red, when any conflict in dates.
Another separate thing, create an option to Enable warning in Tools of Gantt View and in the List view (just mark dates in red) when the subtasks start or due dates are outside of the Task start and due dates. Because it is logical that Task can be considered as Done when all subtasks are done only, so subtasks should not start before the Task is started and subtasks cannot be due later than the due date of the Task - sure, some people can think it is fine when the subtask due date is later than the task's due date but at least we all need to have an option to Enable such warning for those who care.
Can above be implemented by 10th of March 2023?
We need to decide if we can use ClickUp instead of Jira for accurate planning of the Projects.
Thank you in advance.

Dependencies overlap warning and auto-rescheduling
Nate
[From support ticket] Have ClickUp warn me when I try to schedule a task that is being blocked at the same time as the task blocking it. In general, smarter date behavior between blocking and blocked tasks.

Currently, a Waiting For Task can be scheduled to be done before Its blocking task! The system should give warning at least or don't let you to set overlap dates.

Gantt - linking of tasks
W
Wojciech Miczajka
When I link my tasks in Gantt there is no effect. How to make f.e. strong links END-START between tasks? I mean when I link them the second task can't start before ending of first one? Or what to do if I want to start two tasks in the same time (START-START) or make strong links END-END exacting ending of both tasks in the same time?

This is a great idea - we need it very much!!!
Btw, this feature is called 'resource management' and comes with the 'resource usage view' and 'resource availability view' - first to check free and overbooked capacities (as of hour and %), latter to set the baseline for the first (e.g. next week I'm available on Mon+Tue 50% (=4+4h), or week-10 and week-11 I'm available 10h (=25%) ).
When assigning/adding a colleague to a task and when setting datetime would be a nice option to see an (optional) popup with the resource usage of the assigned resources - just to have that info right there and when it's needed (without going around the app clicking several times).
Any kind of resources maybe? I hope you will consider to add other resources beside registered accounts (equipment, vehicles, locations, non-registered people etc.)
We work with contractors and this is going to make our planning and follow-up process, especially re-planning much easier. Also, our main staff's capacity varies, e.g. someone works only Mon-Thu, some other 35h /w and so on.
Add 'portfolio management' - that you almost got - and ClickUp will differentiate itself from most of the competitors and gets close to real PM tools ;-)
Cheers,
Géza
