Ordering of custom fields in task

When custom fields are created, the order of the fields can be customized in the Manage custom fields for the list view. However, this does not translate to the order that the custom fields appear in the task (which is set strictly to an alphabetical order). The order in the task should be customizable and reflect the order in the Manage custom fields.

Hi all - thanks for the feedback on this! We currently allow for either A-Z ordering for custom fields, or drag/drop manual reordering; however, there is a certain order that is always respected today: Required Custom Fields, Pinned Custom Fields, Custom Fields w/ values, Custom Fields w/o values.
I'd love to hear from you here on how you would like to see this ordering work for custom fields across your Workspace to best enable your workflows across teams!

Currently it automatically places Custom fields in task in alphabetical order, I would be very helpful to be able to drag and drop them in a specific order relative to certain work flows

It would be useful to be able to re-order custom fields on tasks so that they appear in a certain order. I have created a risk log list and I would like my risk detail fields to appear in a set order.

In my ClickUp workspace, there is an issue with the order of Custom Fields in tasks. Even though I manually set the field order both in the Custom Fields settings and directly within tasks, the order does not stay saved permanently. After refreshing the page or reopening a task, the fields appear in a different order or revert to the default layout.
What I have already tried:
Enabling manual sorting of Custom Fields in ClickApps
Dragging fields in the Custom Field Manager
Checking view and column settings
The problem occurs regardless of the browser or device.
Please help me resolve this issue, or let me know whether this is a known limitation of the platform.

To enable manual sorting of custom fields:
Access your ClickApps.
In the Custom Fields ClickApp, click the Sort drop-down menu.
Select Manual.

A great addition would be "Coded Names" for better organizing Custom Fields, which would be visible only in the properties or settings of the custom field, different from the current regular Name (Could be "Shown" Name).
Also, Custom Field "Contexts", mentioned in my typeform response, to reduce duplicate fields.

Hi. I have created a Form to enter specific required information for our tasks. This means that out tasks are all formatted in the same way and no information is forgotten about before the task is reviewed by another department.
I can easily create the Form with the questions in a logical order. Each answer populates a custom field in our task... BUT the order in which the custom fields appear in the individual task, is NOT the same logical order as the Form questions/answers.
Yes, I can pin the custom fields but the sort order of custom fields (answers to Form) is still not in same order as on the Form.
This results in illogical arrangement of custom fields which is very frustrating and looks unprofessional when presenting to other departments.
Please let me know if there is a way to fix 🙏:

Hi there, the Bot suggested I add here the request to be able to hide custom fields from the "details" section of tasks. I created a form with custom fields that will only be used in some instances, and those fields are now showing on every single task which is problematic. Please update! Thanks.
